Ilhan Omar’s office claims ads from pro-Israel group are putting her ‘life at risk’ by ‘baselessly’ quoting from her statements

Leftist Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has had no problem likening the United States to Hamas and the Taliban or accusing Israel of committing “unthinkable atrocities” and horrible human rights abuses.

But if pro-Israel groups hit back, her modus operandi appears to be to get testy and accuse them of putting her life in danger.

What happened?

In June, Omar upset a large number of people by equating the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban.

Omar claimed in a tweet that the U.S., Israel, Hamas, and the Taliban have all committed “unthinkable atrocities” and human rights abuses.

“We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity,” she said as the world was still dealing with the repercussions of thousands of Hamas rocket attacks on Israel in May.

The tweet included a clip of Omar questioning Secretary of State Antony Blinken on how those who perpetrate human rights abuses — including, she said, Hamas, the Taliban, and Israeli security forces — will be held accountable.

Even a dozen of her fellow Democratic lawmakers came out to condemn her statements. After the dustup, reports surfaced that the rift between Omar and congressional Democrats was more significant than previously reported, with some Democratic lawmakers reportedly calling her an “anti-Semite” privately.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, also known as AIPAC, began running an ad recently that goes directly after the lawmaker’s attacks on the United States and Israel.

And Omar did not take kindly to AIPAC’s criticisms, Fox News reported.

Her spokesman, Jeremy Slevin, hopped on Twitter Wednesday to claim the group’s attack ads — which responded directly to the congresswoman’s statements — were “Islamophobic” and to accuse the group of endangering Omar’s life.

“The language AIPAC uses in paid ads to smear and vilify [Rep. Omar] is virtually identical to the language used in death threats she gets,” Slevin said in a post that included a screenshot of an AIPAC ad that took issue with Omar’s statements. “Make no mistake: AIPAC is putting Rep. Omar’s life at risk with repeated Islamophobic attack ads.”

“It shouldn’t have to be stated, but baselessly linking Muslim-Americans to terrorism is *the* textbook example of Islamophobia and is routinely used to silence advocacy for Palestinian human rights,” he continued.

Fellow “Squad” member and radical leftist Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) responded to Slevin’s post with a tweet of her own: “I am so sick of this s**t.”

AIPAC replied to Slevin’s attack by saying, “Your baseless attack on us can’t deflect from [Omar’s] attack on America and Israel.”

“It is outrageous for Rep. Omar to put the U.S. and Israel on the same level as the Taliban and Hamas,” the group added. “There is no moral equivalence between democratic allies and the terrorists who target them.”

AIPAC told Fox News it stands by the ad.

“The ad concerning Representative Omar is completely fair and accurate,” an AIPAC spokesperson said. “It is not a personal attack and highlights her outrageous statement putting the United States and Israel on the same level as the Taliban and Hamas.”

Green Party mutiny continues as they turn against Annamie Paul for being pro-Israel

Annamie Paul is under attack these days. Which isn’t unusual when it comes to the bloodsport that is politics. It’s just that the attacks are coming from within her own party, mutiny-style.

Indeed, according to media reports, the Green Party’s governing body was planning on holding a confidence vote on Paul’s leadership. This would also entail reviewing her membership in the party. But these plans were cancelled – no doubt due to the looming federal election that seems likely to occur sometime in September.

But make no mistake: this was not a complete victory for Paul. The Green Party executive fired the staff in Paul’s office. And it did not release any funding to support her riding campaign. What a fascinating election strategy!

But the question is: why the acrimony? Why the infighting? Why the hate-on for Ms. Paul? Well, the unspoken reason why so many Greens are turning red with rage regarding Ms. Paul seems to have everything to do with… her opinions regarding Mideast policy?!

When tensions were hitting a boiling point with Israel and Hamas back in May, Paul issued a statement calling for a de-escalation and a return to dialogue. That sounds rational, but not to the “progressive” Israel-haters in the Green Party, of which there appears to be many.

Indeed, there are rumblings of full-out antisemitism within the party. And I think this hate really ramped up when word got out that Annamie Paul is — wait for it — Jewish. You know, I bet most people — Green Party members included — had no idea about Annamie Paul’s faith. After all, being female and black, Annamie was well on her way toward a Royal Flush in the identity politics card game. But her being Jewish and pro-Israel… ouch! That’s a bit of a setback, isn’t it? Well, at least in the eyes of the uber-progressives who make up the Green Party rank and file.

It looks like the mutiny against Annamie Paul is back on, big time. The Green Party is taking her to court. The party wants to overturn the arbitration that cancelled the confidence vote and membership review.

Yesterday David Menzies stepped in to guest host The Ezra Levant Show while Ezra is on assignment in Alberta. On the Green Party trying to remove Paul from ger position David said:

Bottom line: the documents clearly indicate that the Green Party is at war with itself. It’s kinda like what would’ve been the case in Ontario during the 2018 election campaign if Patrick Brown was allowed to remain on as leader of the PC Party. The only difference being that Brown deserved to be ousted, given that his actions proved he was a closet Liberal. Whereas, in my opinion, Annamie Paul does not deserve to be removed, given that her only sin is that she is simply too pro-Israel, she is… you know, a little too “Jew-y.”

AOC Gets Sent to the Burn Ward by Pro-Israel Group After She Acts Stupidly in Defense of Ilhan Omar – RedState

Bonchie reported earlier on how the civil war within the Democratic party has turned particularly volcanic, between the furious infighting over Sen. Joe Manchin’s and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s staunch opposition to nuking the filibuster and now with the numerous Jewish Democrats in the House calling on anti-Semitic member Ilhan Omar to “clarify” comments she made equating the United States and their ally Israel to the terrorist groups the Taliban and Hamas.

To quickly recap, Omar caused an uproar among Jewish Democrats in the House after telling President Biden’s Secretary of State Antony Blinken earlier this week that “We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban.” After meeting Wednesday to discuss her remarks, 12 of the 25 members of the unofficial Jewish Democratic caucus decided the best response was this letter, which read:

Equating the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban is as offensive as it is misguided. Ignoring the differences between democracies governed by the rule of law and contemptible organizations that engage in terrorism at best discredits one’s intended argument and at worst reflects deep-seated prejudice.

The United States and Israel are imperfect and, like all democracies, at times deserving of critique, but false equivalencies give cover to terrorist groups. We urge Congresswoman Omar

Not surprisingly, Omar’s most staunch defenders rushed to condemn her critics, with “Squad” leader Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez the most prominent among them. As per the norm, instead of directly addressing what was said in the statement, AOC immediately defaulted to the “they’re putting her life in danger by criticizing her!” line, a tiresome tactic Republicans who have criticized Squad members in the past are all too familiar with:

The Pro-Israel group “Israel War Room” sent her straight to the burn ward by setting the record straight and essentially telling her to shove it:

As I’ve noted before, this is a frequent tactic of Ocasio-Cortez’s, Omar’s, and Tlaib‘s. They invoke the Woman Card, the Woman of Color card, or the “you’re putting me in danger!” card as if that’s supposed to insulate them and shield them from legitimate criticisms of what they say and do.

As a woman, I view their frequent card-playing as embarrassing and hypocritical. These are the same “fierce women” who tell you they “don’t flinch” when under attack but then turn and dive straight for the fainting couches when their feelings get hurt.

In the eyes of the Squad members of the world, it’s okay for them to say the vilest things and make the most despicable accusations possible, but don’t you dare respond in kind or you’re a misogynist who suffers from Islamophobia.

It’s a shutuppery tactic, a way for them to try and shut their opposition up and declare the debate over. In reality, it speaks to the weakness of their “arguments” that they continually fall back on this line of “defense” when their backs are against a wall.

Unfortunately for them, it won’t work, not with Republicans, and not even with members of their own party – not anymore.

House Democrats Scramble To Restore Pro-Israel Bona Fides After Voting Against Iron Dome

Vulnerable House Democrats are scrambling to restore their pro-Israel bona fides days after voting against a provision to fund the Iron Dome, which is not the only controversial vote those Democrats made.

On Wednesday, more than 30 Democrats, led by New Jersey congressman Josh Gottheimer, signed a bipartisan letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, expressing their support for Israel’s missile defense system. “Israel must always have the resources it needs to defend itself from incoming rockets when it is targeted again,” the letter says. The move came weeks after those same Democrats voted against a Republican measure providing $500 million to fund the Iron Dome and other missile defense cooperation programs.

Rep. Tony Gonzales (R., Texas), who authored the Iron Dome measure, called the Democrats’ letter writing campaign “a Hail Mary, half-hearted attempt by Democrats to support Israel.” He said it is the duty of Congress, rather than the Pentagon, to set spending priorities.

“If Democrats really cared about the Israeli people and the Iron Dome, they would have supported my efforts to provide Israel with emergency funding several weeks ago. This move by Democrats is an attempt to backtrack from their previously anti-Israel actions,” Gonzales said.

The Democrats’ pro-Iron Dome flip-flop comes after an outside group aligned with House Republicans launched ads targeting them over the May votes. The conservative American Action Network, which called the letter a “shallow sham,” attacked Gottheimer and 13 other Democrats with targeted phone calls. It also launched digital ads targeting Democrats Mikie Sherrill (N.J.), Carolyn Bourdeaux (Ga.), Susan Wild (Pa.), and Elaine Luria (Va.).

The Democrats “shamefully voted no, even as terrorists’ rockets rained down on Israeli cities,” the ads say. “America supports a safe and secure Israel.”

Eight of the 14 Democrats targeted by the American Action Network campaign reversed their positions, signaling support for replenishing the Iron Dome’s funding in the bipartisan letter to Austin. In addition to Gottheimer, Luria, and Wild, Democratic representatives Colin Allred (Texas), Lizzie Fletcher (Texas), Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), Chris Pappas (N.H.), and Tom Suozzi (N.Y.) signed the letter to Austin. All are top Republican targets in November’s elections.

Luria’s staff directed the Washington Free Beacon to coverage in which she referred to the American Action Network ads as “disgraceful” and called the Iron Dome measure a “political maneuver.” A spokesman for Gottheimer said the vote was not about explicitly the Iron Dome. “The only legislative language that was voted on stated that it was a ‘Motion to Recommit the bill H.R. 3227 to the Committee on Appropriations’ with no other wording,” the spokesman said. “I fail to see where the Free Beacon sees the words ‘Iron Dome’ in there.”

A copy of the motion to recommit reviewed by the Free Beacon reveals that the words “Iron Dome” appear twice.

None of the other six Democrats who reversed their positions after the American Action Network campaign returned requests for comment.

Democrats hampered other measures designed to aid Israel as tensions rose in the opening months of the Biden administration, ultimately leading to sustained rocket attacks from terror groups in the Gaza Strip. All 217 House Democrats voted to thwart Rep. Brian Mast’s (R., Fla.) bill to sanction Hamas during May missile attacks on Israel. Mast blasted the Democrats for coming to Israel’s aid only when it is politically convenient.

“Members of Congress who are truly ‘deeply committed to Israel’s security’ wouldn’t have voted against sanctioning the terrorist sympathizers supporting Hamas,” Mast said. “Actions speak louder than words and when every single Democrat voted against my bill to sanction Hamas, their action abandoned Israel in her time of need.”

Tommy Robinson Joins Pro-Israel Activist Avi Abelow in Honest Discussion on the Dangers of Radical Islam

“We’re in a war of information,” British activist Tommy Robinson said in a live Periscope with Israeli YouTuber Avi Abelow from Gush Etzion, Judea. “We need Donald Trump and Mike Lindell to create the platforms so we can get the message out.”

Both activists are heavily banned on all social media platforms. The mere mention of Tommy Robinson’s name is enough to get you suspended on Facebook and Twitter, which earned him the nickname of Lord Voldemort.  Avi Abelow had to start his own video channel “Pulse of Israel” to get his pro-Israel message out.

NYC pro-Israel protesters attacked, Dem leadership called out for staying largely silent

UPDATED 3:34 PM PT – Saturday, May 22, 2021

New York Democrat leaders are facing criticism from members of their own party for staying silent as Middle East tensions spill over into the “Big Apple”. There have been reports of fighting as demonstrations linked to the conflict in Israel continue in New York City.

Police repeatedly had to break apart fighting after pro-Israel activists were attacked by pro-Palestinian protesters. Furthermore, videos have emerged depicting the violence, including a scuffle after someone who was holding an Israeli flag had it pulled from his hands before being punched upon trying to retrieve it back.

The continued violence has subjected more than two dozen additional individuals to custody after officers were forced to step into a larger fight that broke out. Police have also reportedly said a group of pro-Palestinian agitators threw fireworks into a crowd of pedestrians, injuring at least one bystander and two officers.

Despite an announcement of a cease fire between Israel and Gaza militants, dozens of supporters of both sides of the conflict fought in the streets of Times Square. Dozens were arrested and detained by police before they were dispersed out of the square. The 11 days of fighting has claimed the lives of at least 232 people in Gaza and 12 in Israel. A 29-year-old Jewish man has also spoke out after he was beaten by a group of people in the city earlier in the week. Police say Joseph Borgen was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries following the attack. He said he couldn’t understand why there was so much hate directed at him.

Police said one 23-year-old suspect was taken into custody and faces a litany of charges that include assault as a hate crime, aggravated harassment as a hate crime and criminal possession of a weapon. Officers are still searching for six more people connected to the attack.

Critics are calling on New York leadership to address the violence, saying some of the biggest names in the state have been largely absent amongst the chaos. Although, in an appearance on Friday in Times Square, Senate Majority Leader and New York lawmaker Chuck Schumer (D) did make a comment saying he’s glad there’s a ceasefire in the Middle East.

Saturday will mark the first full day of ceasefire after Hamas militants fired more than 4,000 rockets toward Israel with Israel conducting air strikes in response. Reports say Egyptian mediators have continued to hold discussions between the two sides in the hopes of maintaining the peace.

Pro-Palestinian and Pro-Israel Protesters Filmed Brawling in NY Streets

Supporters of Israel were set upon by pro-Palestine protesters Thursday as the antagonisms of the Middle East were played out in New York City’s Times Square.

A brawl ensued after a demonstrator holding an Israeli flag had it ripped from his hands. When he went to reclaim it, he was punched, triggering a wild melee.

Video of the brawl showed NYPD officers trying to restrain both sides.

Police said 26 people were taken into custody as a result of the fracas, according to WPIX-TV.

One of those who appeared to be detained was a man in the video shown in handcuffs who had attacked a man who took the man’s Palestinian flag.

Police reported that fireworks were allegedly thrown from a convoy of Palestinian supporters into a crowd of pedestrians, according to the New York Post.

Police and first responders who arrived on the scene of the smoking device were reportedly struck with water bottles, according to the Post.

A 55-year-old woman suffered burns to her back and two police officers also suffered injuries, according to WPIX.

One video posted to Twitter of a separate incident showed a Jewish man attacked by what appeared to be pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

‘Guardian Angel’ Gun Owner Steps Up When Jewish Family Is Attacked by Pro-Palestinian Agitators: Report

Barry Borgan, said his son Joey, 29, was the victim, according to the Daily Caller.

“He was going to a pro-Israel rally and wearing his yarmulke and he got ambushed, they climbed out of a van and basically pounded him into the street,” he said.

“It’s open season on Jews,” Borgan said. “If Trump was president, this would not be going on. The squad and all these left-wing Democrats are causing all this anti-Semitism.”

Dov Hikind, former Democratic state assemblyman said the incident is part of a rise in anti-Semitism.

“Jewish blood is flowing on the streets of New York, that’s not an exaggeration. It’s out of control,” he said.

“[It’s] going on in L.A., all over the country. Why are people silent? Jews are being beaten up by a bunch of people marauding the streets of New York, terrifying people, they’re looking for people who are identifiably Jewish,” he said.

Despite ceasefire, fireworks thrown in NYC amid pro-Palestine and pro-Israel protests: ‘F*** you, Zionists!’

Pro-Palestine and pro-Israel demonstrators faced off Thursday in several skirmishes in New York City, even after Israel and Hamas implemented a ceasefire agreement following 11 days of firing rockets at one another in the Middle East.

In the Big Apple, fireworks were even set off in crowds amid clashes.

What are the details?

Israel reached on agreement with Hamas militants earlier in the day to begin a ceasefire at 2 a.m. Friday, which is 7 p.m. in New York City.

But scuffles continued in the city, with footage reportedly taken afterward showing what the NYPD initially speculated might have been a “smoke bomb” being thrown at a crowd of people in the Diamond District.

Further clips showed the aftermath and people’s reactions.

Warning: strong language.

Footage after the incident also shows an individual lying unresponsive on the sidewalk as NYPD officers arrive at the scene. Pro-Palestine protesters can then be seen yelling, “F*** you, Zionists!”

The NYPD told the Daily Mail that some bystanders sustained minor injuries from the device going off. The New York Post reported that “fireworks were thrown from a car” in the incident on 47th Street,” but “it was unclear which side lit them.”

The police later confirmed to Fox News that “two commercial fireworks” were thrown from a vehicle.

Anything else?

Several other fights broke out Thursday evening in Times Square between pro-Israel and pro-Palestine protesters.

Fox News noted:

Pro-Palestinian protesters have marched in America’s biggest cities for the last week and a half. Last Tuesday, thousands of protesters shut down traffic as they marched down 42nd Street in Manhattan.

Violence escalated around Israel at the beginning of last week, with Hamas firing a reported 4,000 rockets and the Israeli air force launching airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip.

NY’s pro-Israel Dems bullied into silence by AOC: Jewish activists

Jewish activists accused powerful Democrats in the New York congressional delegation of cowering to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other leftist House members of the “Squad” by failing to forcefully stand up for Israel during its fight with Hamas in the Gaza strip.

“Chuck Schumer? Who?,” a frustrated Michael Nussbaum, president of the Queens Council of Jewish Organizations, said sarcastically of the powerful Senate majority leader who represents New York.

“I’m surprised and disappointed. Members of the New York congressional delegation who have a lot of sway have not spoken out forcefully to defend Israel, and they have not denounced AOC or corrected her,” said Nussbaum.

Ocasio-Cortez and other Squad members including Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilham Omar (D-Minn.) and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) introduced a resolution Wednesday to halt the President Biden-approved sale of $735 million in weapons to Israel.

“At a time when so many, including President Biden, support a ceasefire, we should not be sending ‘direct attack’ weaponry to Prime Minister Netanyahu to prolong this violence,” AOC said of Israel’s prime minister in a statement.

Israel has come under attack by a barrage of rockets launched by Hamas from the Gaza Strip over the last week, sending residents fleeing for shelter as air raid sirens blare across Israel’s cities.

The Iron Dome defense system has been intercepting many of the rockets, with the streaks of multiple interceptor missiles lighting up the sky over Israel.

In return, Israel’s military jets have dropped a rain of bombs in the Gaza strip to destroy 7.5 miles of Hamas tunnels while targeting other terror sites to stop the attacks on the Jewish State.

Amid the destruction and lives killed, Ocasio-Cortez, in a tweet clearly aimed at Israel, said, “Apartheid states are not democracies.”

Queens Council of Jewish Organizations has been disappointed in the New York delegation's response.
Queens Council of Jewish Organizations President Michael Nussbaum has been disappointed in the New York delegation’s response.

Nussbaum and other activists are seething that the New York pols who claim to be pro-Israel have been quiet and meek, giving Israel critics like AOC a leg up in the war of public opinion.

He argued they’re afraid of repercussions from AOC and the left if they speak up.

“A lot of Democrats are afraid of the AOC contingent. They’re sacrificing their principles to avoid primaries,” Nussbaum said.

Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, executive vice president of the New York Board of Rabbis, echoed the frustration that Israel’s loud critics are drowning out supporters.

“I want to see them and hear them. I don’t see them,” Potasnik said of pro-Israel Democratic lawmakers “The other side has no problem in voicing their opinion.”

New York congressional members pushed back against the criticism, saying they have spoken up.

Schumer signed onto a statement calling for a cease-fire that said Israel has the “right to defend itself,” a spokesman for the senator said.

Schumer, who is Jewish, has been a staunch defender of Israel and was one of the few Democrats to vote against the Iran nuclear deal in 2015, earning him the wrath of then-President Barack Obama.

Manhattan Rep. Caroline Maloney also took issue with being accused of low-keying her support for Israel, with a spokesperson forwarding three tweets she issued over the past week.

“This is terrorism. Rocket fire is never the answer,” Maloney said on May 10.

On May 13, she tweeted, “Israel has the right to defend itself. Now, we must work to stop the violence.”

Maloney also said Tuesday that Hamas “has been exploiting this situation and endangering lives” while calling for a ceasefire.

Pro-Israel protester punches Rebel journalist during duelling Montreal rallies

Tear gas, pepper spray, rocks, and knuckles spoke loudly in Montreal over the weekend.

On Saturday, thousands of Palestine supporters made their voice heard at Montreal’s Dorchester Square, where the very next day a pro-Israel protest also took place. The two rallies featured about the same number of people.

A pro-Palestine counter-protest took place alongside Sunday’s pro-Israel demonstration, at the nearby Place du Canada. The first physical altercation of the day took place inside the Israeli side, where two counter-protesters got inside the crowd despite heavy police presence, and allegedly pepper sprayed three individuals after a physical altercation. Police made at least one arrest related to the incident.

The second act of violence broke out after a group of counter-protesters passed by the square and began shouting insults both in English and French. After a moment, the same group returned back and a physical altercation took place between the two groups.

After police broke up the fight and made an arrest, and a few metres away from the action on top of a bridge, Rebel News’ Chief Videographer Mocha Bezirgan was punched in the face by an pro-Israel demonstrator while recording the stealing of a Palestinian flag, which prompted cheers among Israel supporters.

Later on, the attacker wouldn’t admit his crime, neither to Mocha nor to the police, and denied that it was him who did it, alongside other eyewitnesses gaslighting Mocha and barring false witnesses to the police.

At the end of the pro-Israel rally, multiple rocks were being thrown from the pro-Palestine counter-protesters to the pro-Israel side across the street indiscriminately. The police deployed tear gas and pepper spray against the pro-Palestine counter-protesters but ultimately ended up affecting the pro-Israel demonstrators as well.

With panic ensuing, both sides began running out of the square. The mayhem continued in the busy streets of downtown Montreal, with police and tear gas on almost every corner. Many pedestrians and businesses were affected by the tear gas and police made multiple other arrests.
