Nets Dig In, Build Fort Around Treasonous Gen. Milley Selling U.S. to China

The broadcast networks doubled down Wednesday in their defense of the woke general, Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley, going from beyond just circling the wagons to building out a fort backed by President Joe Biden. Each of the “big three” were out to paint him as a hero who single-handedly kept President Trump from destroying the world, a delusion they and Milley wished was true. They even tried to rationalize his promise to China to sell out America if we attacked.

Again, the CBS Evening News was the most enthusiastic Milley defender, especially considering ViacomCBS includes the publisher of the Bob Woordward and Robert Costa book that glorified Milley. Once they got to the story, anchor Norah O’Donnell and chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes rushed to get a soundbite of Biden on-screen to support the treasonous general:

O’DONNELL: Well, tonight, the President and the Pentagon are defending the nation’s top military officer after bombshell revelations that he reached out to China, fearing a war in the final days of the Trump administration. CBS’ Nancy Cordes reports from the White House.

[Cuts to video]

CORDES: President Biden expressed complete support today for the nation’s highest-ranking military officer.

BIDEN: I have great confidence in General Milley.

Cordes scoffed at how Milley was “facing calls from some Republicans to resign” and suggested “it’s important to consider the timing,” as she proceeded to play a clip of Press Secretary Jen Psaki saying Trump’s national security team thought he was crazy.

“Some of that concern, the authors write, came from CIA Director Gina Haspel, who they say feared that President Trump might try to strike Iran in his final few days in office,” Cordes added, with no evidence Trump was planning such a thing.

The talking points were sent out and on NBC Nightly News, White House correspondent Kelly O’Donnell was singing from the same sheet music:

O’DONNELL: America’s top general taking political fire, but tonight President Biden with a clear defense of Army four-star Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: I have great confidence in General Milley.

Now, where have we seen something like that before?

O’Donnell also scoffed at how “some Republican officials said Milley should be fired for going around an elected commander in chief” and parroted from Milley’s spokesperson who said “these conversations are regular and vital.”

It was those phone calls that ABC chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl wanted to build on during World News Tonight in defense of Milley.

“ABC News has learned that it wasn’t just Milley who reached out to China …  the first contact came from Trump’s former defense secretary, Mark Esper, who conveyed a message to the Chinese defense minister one week earlier than Milley, saying the United States had no intention to attack,” he reported as if that meant Milley was in the right.

He also seemed to lament that “Milley is scheduled to go before Congress later this month in what is sure to be a fiery hearing,” where he will likely face calls from Republicans for him to resign after the botched Afghanistan withdrawal and now with this.

But nothing they or the administration put out on Wednesday drilled down on Milley’s promise to China to sell out the U.S. in the event we needed to attack.

Their defense of a treasonous general content with selling out America to China was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Prudential on ABC, Prevagen on CBS, and Verizon on NBC. Their contact information is linked so you can tell them about the biased news they fund.

JONATHAN KARL: But there is more to the story. ABC news has learned that it wasn’t just Milley who reached out to China, in fact, a former senior Pentagon official tells ABC the first contact came from Trump’s former defense secretary, Mark Esper, who conveyed a message to the Chinese defense minister one week earlier than Milley, saying the United States had no intention to attack.

It is Donald Trump who chose Milley to be the Joint Chiefs chairman but now he is saying Milley should be tried for treason.

FMR. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: If it is actually true, which is hard to believe, that he would have called China and done these things and was willing to advise them of an attack or in advance of an attack, that’s treason.

[Cuts back to live]

KARL: Milley is scheduled to go before Congress later this month in what is sure to be a fiery hearing with tough questions about Afghanistan and now about whether he undermined civilian control of the military and, David, whether or not he should resign.

NEW NewsBusters Podcast: Nets Cheer Bob Woodward’s Latest Bucket of Anti-Trump Mud

In the latest NewsBusters Podcast, we dig into the new Bob Woodward anti-Trump book Peril. It’s a third anonymously-sourced trashing of Team Trump, and the networks are lapping it up and cheering the people who allegedly undermined this allegedly deranged and dangerous president.

Don’t believe everything you read. Woodward has a history of some very dubious claims. We recall his half-baked hospital tales in Veil (1987).

This is the third anti-Trump book to spring from reporters at The Washington Post this year. They are spending the first year of Biden fiercely fixated on the rear-view mirror, constantly obsessing over 2020 and January 2021.

Tierin-Rose Mandelburg of our Free Speech America team dropped in to discuss the latest trends in Big Tech censorship and commentary, including Google refusing anti-abortion ads from Live Action, Facebook squashing a Five for Fighting protest song of Biden’s Afghanistan fiasco, and those “independent fact checkers” that couldn’t find anything wrong in the Fake News from Rolling Stone on a wave of “horse dewormer overdoses.” You can see T.R. in her show Censor Track with T.R.

Nets Yawn at Movie and TV Star Endorsing Elder, Blasting Newsom

Normally if a movie/TV star endorsed a Democrat and made a blockbuster claim about a prominent Republican, journalists and network outlets would be anxious to repeat and promote the claim. But when actor and activist Rose McGowan endorsed Larry Elder and the recall effort against Gavin Newsom, there was a collective media yawn from ABC, CBS and NBC.

In addition to the endorsement, McGowan also accused Newsom’s wife of being in on the effort to protect convicted sex rapist Harvey Weinstein. Yet there has been no network coverage of her Sunday appearance with Republican Elder. MSNBC on Monday allowed a scant 47 seconds with Hallie Jackson trying to “both sides” the blockbuster claim: “You’ve got both sides trying to bring out some star power and some last-minute allegations coming from some.”

Showing video of the Scream and Charmed star endorsing Elder, Jackson quickly ran through McGowan’s claims:

This is the guy who is the leading Republican challenger, conservative talk radio host Larry Elder. He has got a couple of campaign stops. Sunday, you see him here joined by former actress Rose McGowan who repeated some of the recent claims Newsom’s wife tried to persuade her in 2017 not to go public with allegations against Harvey Weinstein. The First Partner calls the claims a complete fabrication, with the governor adding that it’s desperate.

Here’s one of McGowan’s tweets about Jennifer Siebel Newsom:

The Los Angeles Times at least covered the endorsement, saying:

McGowan, a vociferous personality in the #MeToo movement and a longtime listener of the Republican frontrunner’s show, appeared Sunday in Brentwood at a campaign rally for gubernatorial hopeful Elder. She claimed that Newsom’s wife allegedly tried to bribe her to “suppress” McGowan’s allegations against convicted movie mogul Harvey Weinstein in 2017.

Siebel Newsom’s team has said that McGowan’s allegations are “a complete fabrication.”

The “Charmed” star said she left the Democratic Party “because everyone who has harassed, stalked and stolen from” her during her Hollywood career has been a Democrat. And although she said she doesn’t agree with Elder on every issue, she thinks “he is the better candidate” and “the better man.”

The scant coverage on MSNBC was sponsored by T-Mobile. Click on the link to let them know what you think.

HALLIE JACKSON:. We’re going to talk about what’s happening on the west coast. This is the final sprint in the California recall election. You’ve got both sides trying to bring out some star power and some last-minute allegations coming from some. Right now you have got President Biden in the air, on Air Force One, headed out west right now, later today he’s going to campaign with Governor Gavin Newsom in his final get out the vote push ahead of tomorrow’s very closely watched election, an election, by the way, that has national consequences. That’s why we’re talking about it.

Tennis-Britain’s Channel 4 nets 9.2 million viewers for Raducanu’s historic title

September 12, 2021

LONDON (Reuters) – British teenager Emma Raducanu’s staggering U.S. Open final victory had a nation glued to their screens on Saturday night with Channel 4 saying the audience for their broadcast peaked at 9.2 million viewers.

Such was the hype around Raducanu’s fairytale run to the final in New York against Canadian teenager Leylah Fernandez that Channel 4 did a last-minute deal to share UK rights holder Amazon Prime’s feed of the match and make it free to air.

It proved to be a wise move for Channel 4 as Raducanu won a thrilling match 6-4 6-3 to become the first British women for 44 years to win a Grand Slam title.

Channel 4 said the peak audience of 9.2 million was higher than the BBC peak for this year’s eagerly-awaited Wimbledon championships. Coverage of the match itself averaged 7.4 million – seven times the average for the Saturday evening time slot.

“We’re delighted that Channel 4, in partnership with Amazon Prime Video, could enable more than 9 million people to enjoy one of the most thrilling and historic nights of British sport in a generation,” said Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer Ian Katz said.

Raducanu became the first player, man or woman, to win a Grand Slam title having had to go through the qualifying tournament and did so without dropping a set.

National broadcaster the BBC scrapped plans to show the highlights of the final once Channel 4 reached the deal to show the match live.

The British government, which owns Channel 4, has announced plans to privatise the broadcaster – a move opposed by some senior figures in the UK television industry.

Nets Skip WH Pulling ATF Nominee After Accusations of Racism Surface

NewsBusters asked and the broadcast networks answered! On Thursday, the Biden administration was forced to pull the nomination of radical gun control activist David Chipman to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives after evidence surfaced that he had targeted black agents with false negative reviews during promotions while at the bureau years ago. As expected, ABC, CBS, and NBC refused to cover the latest embarrassing defeat for President Biden.

In addition to praising Biden and using violent terms for what he would do to the unvaccinated, each of them wasted valuable time focusing on the asinine and the partisan. ABC’s World News Tonight and NBC Nightly News bizarrely put a spotlight on a military parade in North Korea. ABC was fixed on how thin Kim Jong-un had gotten while NBC touted the soldiers marching in hazmat suits to symbolize their fight against COVID-19.

Meanwhile, CBS (as well as the others) hyped the Justice Department acting as a cudgel for the administration by suing the State of Texas over their pro-life law.

Chipman’s nomination was shot down due the diligent reporting of Stephen Gutowski, the founder of The Reload, who broke the story in late July that the wannabe ATF boss had a racial complaint filed against him during his previous 25 years working at the bureau.

“Multiple ATF sources back up the existence of a complaint alleging President Biden’s nominee to lead ATF, David Chipman, made racist comments during his previous stint at the agency,” Gutowski wrote.

Adding: “The agents, who have decades of experience at the agency, told The Reload they heard the accusation that Chipman denigrated black ATF agents up for promotion. The officials said they heard about Chipman’s alleged comments before they were referenced in a recent lawsuit seeking the release of the complaint.”

From there, things snowballed in August when another black former ATF agent accused Chipman of similar racial misconduct (again broke by The Reload) and Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley (R) demanded the release of a whistleblower report regarding Chipman’s conduct.

“In a letter, Grassley (R., Iowa) told the inspector general his office was concerned about a recent story published in The Reload where the agent accused Chipman of being motivated by a racial bias. The senator said his office had received additional whistleblower reports that back up the allegation,” Gutowski reported.

Less than a month later, The Reload claimed the scalp (click “expand”):

David Chipman will not be the director of the ATF.

Multiple sources have told Politico, The Washington Post, and CNN the White House plans to withdraw his nomination after failing to garner 50 votes in the Senate. Chipman was unable to secure support from even the Democratic caucus after a contentious confirmation hearing and a series of Reload stories on allegations of racism on his part coming from former ATF agents. The Reload stories led to calls from Republicans for new hearings and a whistleblower report being filed with the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Despite the fact that The Reload’s reporting was the driving factor behind the White House’s decision, the liberal media was trying to make it about Chipman’s work for radical gun control organizations.

“Chipman worked at the ATF for 25 years before retiring in 2012. He then advised groups that advocate for gun control, like Everytown, and the Giffords Law Center,” reported William Brangham on PBS NewsHour.

Adding: “And when it and when it came to confirming Chipman, those affiliations were a problem for all of the Republicans in the Senate. Even some moderate Democrats expressed reservations.”

Gutowski has made an appearance on the NewsBusters Podcast to discuss the liberal media’s ignorance of guns, gun owners, and gun facts. You can check that out here.

The network omission of this Biden defeat was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Fisher Investments on ABC, Cadillac on CBS, and Ford Motor Company on NBC. Their contact information is linked so you can tell them about the biased news they fund.

Nets waiving former top-three pick Jahlil Okafor

Article content

Acquired five days ago, Jahlil Okafor won’t be a Brooklyn Net for long, as the franchise is putting the veteran center on waivers, the team announced Thursday.

Okafor, 25, was acquired by the Nets in a trade with the Detroit Pistons Sept. 4.

That trade involved a swap of DeAndre Jordan to the Pistons, so that the Pistons could buy out his deal and clear a path for Jordan to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Nets also received forward Sekou Doumbouya in the deal, while Detroit received $5.78 million as well as second-round picks in 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2027.

Okafor, drafted third overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2015, has averaged 10.4 points and 4.7 rebounds over six seasons with four different teams: the Pistons (2020-21), the New Orleans Pelicans (2018-20), the Nets (2017-18) and the 76ers (2015-17).

He was due to earn $2.13 million this season after signing a two-year, $4 million contract with the Pistons in 2020.

“Illegal” walk in Ontario nets hikers $880 each in COVID fines

Jason Langelier and his friend Matthieu Fortin are a couple of outdoorsy guys who like to stay active, stay healthy and enjoy nature. But that love of the wilderness and personal well-being recently put the two on the wrong side of the law.

Back in March, when Langelier and Fortin decided to go for a hike on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, the two pals ended up having a heck of a day. First, they got stuck in a bus that doubles as an RV. Then their day in the great nature of Ontario closed with three cop cars showing up, not to help them, but to issue the pair a couple of $880 lockdown tickets. Their crime? Going on an illegal walk outside in Premier Doug Ford’s prison province of Ontario.

The good news in this bad news story of nonsensical health regulations is that the two friends are being helped by Rebel News‘ civil liberties project, www.FightTheFines.com. Fortin and Langelier now have the assistance of a top-notch legal team, including our freedom-fighting paralegal Jenna Little, to help them fight their lockdown tickets in court at no cost to them.

Walking outside in the middle of nowhere should not be cause for the dispatch of three police cruisers! To offset the legal cost to remind the government of Ontario of this inconvenient fact, you can donate at www.FightTheFines.com. Langelier and Fortin are just two of over 2,000 other normal Canadians who are fighting their lockdown tickets through your generous crowdfunding and a partnership with the registered Canadian charity, The Democracy Fund.

All donations to The Democracy Fund now qualify for a charitable tax receipt.

‘Pay the Consequences’: Nets Praise Biden Pulling ‘Hammer’ on Unvaxxed

President Biden’s new constitutionally dubious national vaccine mandate for mid to large businesses, announced Thursday, gave the broadcast networks the cover they needed to lash out at the unvaccinated viciously. They rolled around in violent rhetoric as they praised the President for “taking off the gloves,” taking a “hammer” to bear against them, and making them “pay the consequences.” One even scoffed at the legal questions and suggested Biden was just doing what he needed to do.

NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt was the most overtly violent as he described Biden as pulling out a blunt weapon with which to beat the unvaccinated into submission. “Clearly frustrated by the pace of COVID-19 vaccinations in this country, President Biden tonight is trading out the velvet glove for a hammer,” he touted, “unveiling a broad and largely new COVID strategy heavily grounded in vaccine mandates, meant to compel millions of American workers to be vaccinated.”

Pitying Biden’s frustrations was a common theme throughout the evening newscasts. It was the excuse ABC anchor David Muir gave on World News Tonight for Biden’s threat against Republican governors:

One more question on this tonight, Rachel Scott live at the White House. And Rachel, the President taking aim at local officials that he said are actively working to undermine the fight against COVID by opposing masks and vaccination mandates. He said, “I’ll get them out of the way.”

The President clearly frustrated with politics, the fights, the images like the ones we saw just today out of Tennessee, that young man trying to make the case. The president saying this is getting in the way of halting this virus.

Over on CBS Evening News, anchor Norah O’Donnell was also lauding Biden for “taking off the gloves to get more Americans to roll up their sleeves.” She also boasted about him suggesting the unvaccinated had blood on their hands. “He took special aim at the nearly 80 million eligible Americans who have refused shots saying, quote, ‘your refusal is costing all of us,’” she said.

Building off of her, CBS senior White House correspondent Weijia Jiang gushed for how Biden had “call[ed] out the vaccine holdouts” and told them to “get vaccinated or pay the consequences.” She also flashed her disdain for Republicans by commending the President on “call[ing] out southern state Republican governors for standing in the way of progress.

Further, on ABC, congressional correspondent Rachel Scott openly scoffed at the serious questions regarding the constitutional legality of Biden’s executive orders and defended them as the ends (or “frustration”) justified the means:

The administration, though, already receiving push-back to this. Just moments ago, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem tweeted this message to the President, “See in you court.”

The bottom line here is that hospitalizations are rising; the administration knew that they had to take aggressive action to counter this. And the President believes the steps he announced tonight will save lives.

Jiang also took a parting swipe at Republicans by dismissing one unnamed lawmaker’s concern the order was “unconstitutional and nothing short of tyranny.”

This disturbing turn to violent rhetoric against the unvaccinated was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Fisher Investments on ABC, Cadillac on CBS, and Ford Motor Company on NBC. Their contact information is linked so you can tell them about the biased news they fund.

Altogether, his new plan covers two-thirds of America’s workers.

He took special aim at the nearly 80 million eligible Americans who have refused shots saying, quote, “your refusal is costing all of us,” as hospitals fill up with unvaccinated COVID patients.

Now, as we come on the air the pandemic is causing more havoc for the economy. Microsoft has indefinitely pushed back its return to the workplace for more than 100,000 employees. And several U.S. Airlines say bookings plunged with would-be travelers now staying home.

Nets Skip Fox Scoop on Teacher Unions Pressing Biden on COVID Controls

Joe Schoffstall at Fox News is offering one of those stories the liberal media don’t want you to hear. New emails released through the Freedom of Information Act reveal the teachers unions put a lot of pressure on the Biden administration to toughen masking standards in schools.

The Biden administration tightened its masking guidance after a prominent teachers union threatened White House officials with publicly releasing harsh criticism, internal emails show.

The National Education Association sent a draft statement to White House officials that included harsh criticism of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s masking guidance, the emails show. But the teachers union ultimately published a version with a much softer tone, and the CDC clarified its guidance to indicate that everyone should be masked in schools, regardless of vaccination status….

The CDC announced on May 13 that fully vaccinated Americans could stop wearing masks indoors and outside, which sparked confusion about how this policy would apply to schools.

One day later, on May 14, Erika Dinkel-Smith, the White House director of labor engagement, said she stopped the NEA from releasing a critical statement that had called for immediate clarification.

The emails. sought by the group Americans for Public Trust, show CDC chief of staff Sherri Berger calling up Randi Weingarten of the American Federation of Teachers and Becky Pringle of the National Education Association.

The next day, on May 15, the CDC updated its masking guidance to indicate that all people should wear a mask at school regardless of vaccination status.

“This batch of emails came just weeks after we already exposed the teachers unions influenced the CDC on school openings,” Americans for Public Trust Executive Director Caitlin Sutherland told Fox News. “Lo and behold, less than two weeks later, they’re at it again, but this time in relation to mask guidance.”

But the liberal networks, highlighted a different set of facts, the narrative the unions wanted. A Nexis search for news on “teachers unions” brought a drumbeat of stories on 13 school employees in Miami-Dade Public Schools dying of COVID. Take CNN’s New Day on Wednesday morning:

BRIANNA KEILAR:  And in Florida, 13 employees from Miami-Dade public schools have died from coronavirus since mid-August. Their families say that all of them were unvaccinated. The president of the Miami-Dade teachers’ union, Karla Hernandez-Mats, joining us now to talk about this. Karla, thank you so much for being with us this morning.

Thirteen staffers. And we should be clear, we’re not just talking about teachers. There’s also bus drivers, cafeteria workers and others. How are you all managing this? How are you — how are you responding and dealing with this loss?

This narrative also surfaced Wednesday night on ABC’s World News Tonight:

DAVID MUIR: In Miami-Dade County, Florida, the teachers’ union reporting 13 school district staffers have died of COVID in the last three weeks. Officials say none of them were vaccinated.

On Thursday afternoon on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports, this narrative was shared again, and former Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs used it to drive home tougher vaccine mandates: ” I think Joe Biden has to get on the phone with the teachers’ unions, and make sure that those vaccine mandates happen. It’s time to sort of put aside the carrots and get out the sticks, because we know vaccinating people is almost assuredly going to keep them out of the hospital and keep them from dying.”

Will Nets Report? ATF Nominee David Chipman Pulled After Racism Allegations

It’s another botch for the Biden administration! The White House announced today that it is pulling its nomination of David Chipman to be ATF head. Chipman is currently senior policy advisor to Giffords, an anti-gun rights group who faced allegations of racism.

The question is will the networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) report on yet another Biden failure or will they quietly brush this fiasco under the rug?

Chipman’s nomination was pulled after it was clear he wasn’t going to get enough Dem votes with West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin and Montana’s Joe Manchin refusing to give him the nod. Chipman already faced opposition from gun-rights groups but allegations of racism may have been the final blow.

The Reload’s Stephen Gutowski reported the following:

A black former ATF agent told The Reload in August that Chipman had falsely accused him of cheating on a promotion assessment because he believed the agent had done too well on a section of the examination.

“I couldn’t believe it when it happened,” the agent said. “But when I read about his other comments, in my mind, I was like ‘that motherf*****.’ That’s what happened. He said, ‘Hey, a lot of African Americans qualified to be promoted on this certification list; they must have been cheating.’ And then he had to go and find one. I happened to be that one.”

The agent said Chipman’s complaint against him initiated a years-long inspector general investigation against him in 2007 that sidetracked his career before exonerating him. The Department of Justice confirmed Chipman had initiated an investigation against an agent over accusations of cheating in 2007.
