Armed St. Louis Couple Who Confronted BLM Mob Face Possible Law License Suspension

A Missouri official has asked the state Supreme Court to suspend the law licenses of Mark McCloskey and Patricia McCloskey, the armed St. Louis couple who confronted Black Lives Matter protesters outside their mansion last year.

Missouri governor Mike Parson announced last month that he had pardoned the couple after Mark McCloskey pleaded guilty in June to misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and was fined $750, while Patricia McCloskey pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment and was fined $2,000.

As the charges were misdemeanors, the couple did not face the possibility of losing their law licenses or their rights to own firearms. However, they had agreed to forfeit the weapons they brandished as hundreds of protesters, who were trespassing in their gated community, and stood outside their home last June yelling threats at them.

Still, Missouri Chief Disciplinary Counsel Alan Pratzel, whose office is responsible for investigating ethical complaints against lawyers in the state, asked the state Supreme Court this week to suspend the McCloskey’s law licenses, according to a court filing first reported by KCUR-FM.

Mark and Patricia McCloskey were admitted to the Missouri bar in 1986, according to the report. The couple works together at the McCloskey Law Center where they represent clients in personal injury, medical malpractice, and defective products cases.

Pratzel argued that while the pardon takes away the conviction, “the person’s guilty remains,” according to the report.

He claimed the incident demonstrated an “indifference to public safety” and involved “moral turpitude,” which is grounds for the discipline.

Mark McCloskey stood on the lawn of their home screaming and pointing a semiautomatic rifle at protesters. His wife then joined him with a semiautomatic handgun, yelling at protesters to “go” and pointing it at them. No shots were fired.

Many have defended the McCloskeys, saying they were legally protecting their $1.15 million house.

The couple heard a loud commotion and saw a large group of people break an iron gate marked with “No Trespassing” and “Private Street” signs, according to a police report.

However, special prosecutor Richard Callahan said his investigation found that the protesters were peaceful.

“There was no evidence that any of them had a weapon and no one I interviewed realized they had ventured onto a private enclave,” Callahan said in a statement after the McCloskeys pleaded guilty in June.

At the time of the incident, the pair received support from then-President Trump, who called the charges against them “disgraceful.” They were also invited to speak at last year’s Republican National Convention.

Mark McCloskey launched a bid for a U.S. Senate seat in Missouri earlier this year.

“Mark is a Conservative outsider who will bring backbone and guts to the US Senate to continue fighting for President Trump’s agenda,” his website says.

Brett Kavanaugh & Supreme Court: Mob Pressure

Protesters raged against ‘white, cis, het men’ outside his home.

Chevy Chase, Md. — Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s residence is surprisingly modest, given his neighborhood’s tony reputation. The house where he, his wife, and their two daughters live is a well-kept Cape Cod dressed head to toe in white wood siding. There’s a small porch off to the side which is surrounded by manicured hedges. Brick stairs trimmed with ivy lead down to the street.

It’s Monday night. All of the lights are on, but none of the Kavanaughs are home. I can’t blame them. Just outside their house, about 150 protesters, summoned by a group called ShutDownDC, are chanting, waving obscene

Biden’s Ninth Circuit Nominee — Was Just Unanimously Overturned by the Ninth Circuit – RedState

One reason President Donald Trump was so revolutionary was because he appointed many, MANY judges who acted as judges are supposed to act (his three Supreme Court misses notwithstanding).

Election 2020: You Can Never Have Too Many Constitutionalist Judges and Justices

Perhaps the most revolutionary move was Trump’s transformation of the historically, notoriously leftist and anti-Constitution Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ninth Circus Court No More? Trump-McConnell’s Judges Have Made Huge Differences Everywhere:

“Trump’s consistent fealty to constitutional jurists – and (then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch) McConnell’s prioritization of getting them confirmed – is paying huge dividends all across the country.

“Especially in the Ninth Circus.

“‘With Ten Appointees on the Ninth Circuit, Trump Seeks to Tame His Nemesis’

“The Court’s entire judge population is twenty-nine.  More than 1/3 of them – are now Trump judges.

“Trump’s Reshaping of ‘Ninth Circus’ Appeals Court Has Stopped a Lot of ‘Liberal Judicial Activism.’”

Unfortunately, we are now addled with anti-Constitution, exceedingly awful President Joe Biden.

Biden Announces 5th Wave of Judicial Nominees as Democrats Aim to Maintain Quick Pace of Confirmations to Federal Bench

And Biden seems intent on reclaiming the crown jewel of judicial idiocy.

Judge Lucy Koh Tapped for 9th Circuit in Latest Batch of Biden Judicial Nominees

If ever there was a poster child for judicial activism in the service of government cronies — it’s Lucy Koh.

The Egregious Damage One Activist Judge Can Do

Get Big Media’s glowing appreciation of Koh’s radical anti-judging….

In Silicon Valley, Lucy Koh is the Law:

“Her rulings at times have broken legal ground….

“Koh’s interest in the law, friends and colleagues say, is rooted in an idealistic sense of justice – in the law as an agent for change.”

Translation: Koh likes to ignore the Constitution and the law.

And make stuff up so as to impose her personal policy preferences – ‘break new ground’ so as to be an ‘agent of change’ – rather than remain within the confines of the Constitution and the law.

And Judge Koh’s latest really big ruling – was omni-directionally awful.

An Obama Judge Could Singlehandedly Kill US Intellectual Property and National Security

Judge (Lucy) Koh’s Qualcomm Coup:

“Her sweeping antitrust ruling kneecaps the firm and 5G competition.”

Judge Koh’s ruling didn’t just kneecap Qualcomm – it kneecapped any patent holder anywhere in the world doing business in the United States.

But Judge Koh’s ridiculous ruling – was even more damaging than that.

She single-handedly, unilaterally rewrote large swaths of the United States’ patent system.

Oh: And Koh imposed all of this judicial insanity in service of monster-crony, Big Tech IP thief Apple (Market Cap: $2.47 trillion).

Apple was stealing Qualcomm’s IP — and wanted the court to ratify its massive heist.  And Koh was happy to oblige — no matter how far she had to warp the law to deliver the cronyism.

How awful was Koh?:

“Judge Koh refused to hear from two dozen witnesses put forward by Qualcomm.  And went whole hog with Communist Chinese cellular company Huawei.  That also happens to be a direct competitor of Qualcomm.

“Judge Koh cited Huawei – 134 times in her 233 page order.

“Because Judge Koh didn’t care about…you know, facts and dubious Communist Chinese witnesses and stuff.  She cared about imposing her personal Leftist policy preference.”

Leftist Judge’s ChiComm #1 Witness in Awful IP Theft Ruling – Is a Massive IP Thief

How exceedingly awful was Koh’s ruling?

When the Ninth Circuit Court Unanimously Says You’ve Gone Too Far Left….

Appeals Court Throws Out Antitrust Ruling:

“A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (unanimously) reversed a 2019 ruling by a federal judge who found that Qualcomm had abused its monopoly position in wireless chips and overcharged mobile phone makers for its patents….

“The District Court judge, Lucy Koh,…(issued) a 233-page decision that could have forced Qualcomm to renegotiate its licensing contracts with phone makers and license its technology to rival chip makers.

“But the appeals court panel was not persuaded.

“In a 56-page ruling, the judges concluded that Qualcomm had no duty under antitrust law to license its competitors. They also ruled that Qualcomm’s policy of not supplying chips to any handset maker that had not licensed its patents did not work like an illegal surcharge on chips sold by competitors.

“‘Anti-competitive behavior is illegal under federal antitrust law,’ the judges wrote.  “Hyper-competitive behavior is not.”

The Ninth Circuit totally obliterated Koh’s ruling — and her alleged legal thinking behind it.

And now Biden has nominated Koh for a promotion — to the Ninth Circuit.

The court that totally obliterated Koh’s ruling and her alleged legal thinking behind it.

Those Court colleague lunches should be really…interesting.

You only promote Koh if you’re primarily interested in destroying the judiciary, IP, the economy, and the country.

Good times.

Warby Parker Daily Wire Ad Controversy: Caving to Progressive Mob Will Hurt Companies’ Bottom Lines

When companies join the culture wars, they shouldn’t be surprised if the blowback hits their bottom lines.

arby Parker has decided to enter the culture war.

Warby Parker is going to lose.

Warby Parker, like many similar businesses, farms out part of its digital advertising to third-party firms that place ads on a variety of media platforms, usually driven by user data. One of Warby Parker’s ads cropped up on the Daily Wire, a conservative site founded by Ben Shapiro, and the usual progressive rage monkeys on Twitter did their usual cretinous thing, threatening to boycott the eyewear company.

Warby Parker, which already engages in a great deal of marketing by means of social-justice gilding, did its best impression of

Of Course She Did: Joy Reid Joined Liberal Mob in Peddling FAKE Ivermectin Story

Over the Labor Day weekend, the liberal media uncorked another piece of truly fake news thanks to a Rolling Stone story that claimed an Oklahoma hospital had been overrun with people having overdosed on the medication ivermectin. Among the frauds was none other than MSNBC’s The ReidOut host Joy Reid, who spent just over six minutes on Friday using the tall tale as a jumping-off point for a segment on ivermectin.

As it turned out, the story wasn’t even remotely true as the single source used by Rolling Stone (and Oklahoma City-area NBC affiliate KFOR) hadn’t worked at the hospital in months and the magazine didn’t even obtain prior comment from the hospital in question.

“So, things are clearly bad, but they’re being made even worse by people who have refused to take the vaccine, and instead are swallowing horse paste,” began Reid.

Reid then brought up the Oklahoma fable with an accompanying graphic of a Business Insider story that backed up the claims (with the title “Oklahoma’s ERs are so backed up with people overdosing on ivermectin that gunshot victims are having to wait to be treated, a doctor says”):

The emergency room in one rural Oklahoma town is being overwhelmed by people overdosing on ivermectin, the horse deworming medication. It’s gotten so bad that gunshot victims — gunshot victims — are having to wait to be treated. By the way, the pharmaceutical company that produces ivermectin, Merck, had to tell people that there was no scientific basis or evidence for using ivermectin when it comes to COVID.

Former MSNBC contributor-turned-NYC health official Dr. Lipi Roy and NBC News’s ever-annoying and QAnon-obsessed reporter Ben Collins came in to back Reid up and do what MSNBC always does in treating Americans who don’t think and vote like they do as wild animals.

With an Oklahoma-related chyron to help her along (“Overtaxed Hospitals Now Dealing with Ivermectin O.D.S”), Reid griped to Roy that “it’s so frustrating to me to hear people who are willing to take a horse medicine and drink that[.]”

Roy continued down that train of thought that about right-leaning Americans holding the country back (and ignoring statistics such as only 28 percent of young Black New Yorkers being vaccinated) (click “expand”):

REID: How frustrating is it for you that people are now taking up hospital beds because they chose to drink or to consume ivermectin, instead of getting the shot?

ROY: Yes, so, happy Friday, Joy. Good to see you. I want to make sure your viewers understand that inappropriate administration of medications can have a constellation of harmful side effects. In the case of ivermectin, which, by the way, to be very clear, is not FDA-approved for the treatment of COVID-19 — it is FDA-approved to treat parasitic infections, such as river blindness, malaria, but not COVID-19. There are active clinical trials being run right now. But ivermectin, especially when it’s — when people are overdosing on it, can cause a lot of serious side effects, including seizures, coma and death. People need to just really stick with the evidence-based medications, treatment. And, yes, the gold standard right now is prevention, which is the vaccine, Joy. That’s the message that people need to know.

Collins got his turn once Reid finished kvetching that “people are listening more to social media, which you cover for us so brilliantly at NBC News, than they’re listening to people like Dr. Lipi Roy.”

Always willing to see conspiracy theories, bad-faith arguments, and/or QAnon around every corner, Collins said the ivermectin arguments come from podcasts, social media, and “insular groups that are — really, frankly, just don’t trust the government.”

Instead of genuinely considering (in good faith) why people don’t trust the government (and the media), Collins went onto blame said group of people themselves. This went on and on, but we’ll spare you the rest.

Writing on his blog Inquire, Zaid Jilani called the original claim from KFOR the kind of thing that would have led “an old-fashioned, traditional journalist” to first wonder “whether it passes the sniff test.” Alas, it didn’t.

Our friend Drew Holden had an immaculate thread on others who didn’t care to check the work of Rolling Stone or KFOR. While Rolling Stone issued a lengthy update, KFOR’s story is still up touting claims of multiple hospitals being overwhelmed.

Along with Business Insider, Holden tweeted that those who fell for the story included The Daily Beast’s Justin Baragona, Daily Kos, the Daily Mail, Kurt Eichenwald, The Guardian, Newsweek, New York Daily News, The Hill, MSNBC contributor and fill-in host Jason Johnson, Roland Martin, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, and Stephanie Ruhle Reports producer Lauren Peikoff (who admirably fessed up and deleted her tweet).

CNN’s Daniel Dale would arrive on the scene with a story on Tuesday’s New Day, but he channeled his inner weasel by making it about how “critics of this story jumped to conclusions.”

Unlike Dale, Holden chose to live in reality as he correctly diagnosed the problem later in his thread:

We Must Re-in-Source and Rethink Everything – RedState

The United States spent much of the latter half of the 20th Century engaging in a wide array of titanically stupid policies.  And we’ve spent the first quarter of the 21st Century being just as titanically stupid.

The dumbest policy of this Idiot Era has been our suicidal embrace of globalism.  In the 1950s, we were far and away the world’s economic powerhouse.  Then we began globalizing — which meant outsourcing our economic power to the rest of the planet.

Perhaps the dumbest of the dumbness was the mass-expulsion of our manufacturing sector.  We were able to save the planet from World War II by ramping up our production of…just about everything.  Almost immediately thereafter, we began exporting that manufacturing might.

Seventy years later, we make almost nothing.  And our economy is a fragile edifice built upon a knife’s edge.

Our growth rate since the 1970s has been anemic and decelerating.  And wages at the mid and lower levels have basically flatlined.

We have fed the Left a legitimate “income inequality” argument.  We made the rich richer and richer by outsourcing everyone else’s jobs (while mass-importing Third World replacements for the jobs that were left).  Wall Street booms — while Main Street busts.

We have emphasized mind over muscle.  Failing to acknowledge the two are inextricably intertwined — and both are vital to our national survival.

We (allegedly) became mind-centric.  With a mass-overemphasis on higher education.  Everyone MUST go to college, we were told.  “Work smarter, not harder.”

And then spent the last half-century-plus having colleges (and K-12 government schools) teach nothing of substance to value — instead poisoning our minds with Leftist claptrap.

What has this gotten us?  Tens of millions of degreed airheads owing trillions of student loan dollars who are incapable of feeding themselves or contributing anything of value to our national well-being.

Meanwhile, millions of high-paying tradesman gigs (electrician, plumber,…) go unfilled.  We are increasingly a country that can’t keep the lights on and the water running because we are overrun with over-educated, under-helpful people.

The Rust Belt became the Rust Belt because of this globalist idiocy.  We’ve hollowed out large swaths of our nation.  Where we once made the world’s stuff, we now make methamphetamine for domestic consumption.

We continue to almost single-handedly fund the rise of our biggest global enemy — Communist China.  Much of our outsourcing has been Chinese insourcing.  We have sent them tens of millions of jobs.  And then we have to borrow the money from them — because we outsourced our economy to them.

We must reverse all of this idiocy.  We must re-in-source and rebuild our manufacturing sector.

And not just for the traditional, physical stuff.  Never has the meld of mind and muscle in manufacturing been more true and readily apparent than now.

We are in the very early stages of the Digital Era.  More and more things will be intangible.  Computers and the attending Internet have necessitated a whole new universe of high-end manufacturing.

And we are WAY upside down here, too.  Guess who isn’t?  Shocker — it’s China.

A fundamental component of all things digital is semiconductors, or microchips.  “Chips.”  And we have spent the last year-plus enduring a global chip shortage.

About which we can do almost nothing.  Because 75% of the planet’s chips are manufactured in Asia.  So if it ain’t China making them — it’s China’s easily-bullied neighbors.

Let us pause to contemplate the titanic stupidity of outsourcing the vast majority of the manufacture of something so vital to our economy.

Let us pause further still to contemplate the even-more-titanic stupidity of handing it to Communist China and countries in Communist China’s sphere of influence.

And, of course, China is looking to press even further its advantage.

China Stockpiles Chips, Chip-Making Machines to Resist U.S.:

“Chinese businesses bought almost $32 billion of equipment used to produce computer chips from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and elsewhere, a 20% jump from 2019, a Bloomberg analysis of official trade data shows.”

We are currently debating $5.4 trillion worth of almost wholly unnecessary “infrastructure” spending — most of which isn’t actually infrastructure.

An actual infrastructure plan which is vitally necessary?  Addressing our lack of chips — and chip manufacturing:

“‘Lawmakers, Industry Call on Biden to Fund Semiconductor Production Amid Shortage:

“‘A bipartisan group of more than 70 House and Senate lawmakers on Monday called on President Biden to support funds for semiconductor research and manufacturing as Biden hosted a meeting with technology leaders to discuss a critical shortage in chips.

“‘In a letter to Biden spearheaded by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), the lawmakers asked that he work to fund initiatives for semiconductors created by the CHIPS for America Act, legislation included in the most recent National Defense Authorization Act, noting the need to compete with China.’

“How obvious is this?  Even President Joe Biden gets it.

“‘At Meeting with CEOs, Biden Says Semiconductor Chips Are Infrastructure’

“Eventually, the domestic semiconductor industry will be (very) profitable — and thereby self-sustaining.

“But after our decades of outsourcing (to China) stupidity, we must now spend government money to play domestic catch-up.  Infrastructure, if you wish.

“To address a few little things.  Like our national and economic security.”

We once cared about our national and economic security.  We must begin to do so again.

The Woke Mob Got ESPN Reporter Canceled, But Who Really Wins in the End?

For those who want to work at ESPN, wokeness is a prerequisite. The company would never say that, of course, but it’s understood by anyone who watches the network.

We see it in its coverage across the board as it flaunts Black Lives Matter propaganda and demonizes fans over phantom racial slurs.

Anyone who works for the sportscasting giant undoubtedly knows it, too. That includes Rachel Nichols, a respected NBA reporter.

ESPN’s viewership has largely fallen off in recent years, probably due to the leftist attitude that alienates half of its audience. Nichols was one of the few bright spots the network had left.

And now she’s gone. Why? For committing a grave sin against the company’s woke gospel.

Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom Cancel Rally After Backlash Over the Event’s Timing

In July 2020, Nichols arrived in Orlando, Florida, for the NBA playoffs. As the successful host of ESPN’s daily NBA show “The Jump,” Nichols was under the impression that she would be hosting the network’s coverage of the 2020 NBA Finals, The New York Times reported.

Instead, Nichols was told her colleague Maria Taylor would be hosting the coverage. Taylor is black, and Nichols is white.

In 2019, Taylor was given hosting duties on “NBA Countdown,” ESPN’s pregame show for its Friday and Sunday NBA coverage. She had already been a mainstay on ESPN’s “College GameDay,” a weekly college football pregame show, since 2017. Nichols, meanwhile, had hosted “The Jump” since 2016.

Nichols certainly had the right to feel that she was more qualified to host the 2020 NBA Finals coverage. Not only had she been with ESPN longer, but she had also focused her coverage on the NBA well before Taylor did.

Do you watch ESPN?

While it would be hard to definitively prove, there is an argument to be made that ESPN gave Taylor the job because of her skin color.

Nichols raised this concern in a private phone call from a hotel room in July 2020.

“I wish Maria Taylor all the success in the world,” Nichols told Adam Mendelsohn, an adviser to NBA superstar LeBron James, according to the Times.

“If you need to give her more things to do because you are feeling pressure about your crappy longtime record on diversity — which, by the way, I know personally from the female side of it — like, go for it. Just find it somewhere else. You are not going to find it from me or taking my thing away.”

Unbeknownst to her, she had accidentally left a camera on after recording a show from the hotel room.

Young Not Stupid: Tom Brady Sends Powerful Message Every Conservative Can Get Behind

This meant that video of her conversation was recorded to a server at ESPN headquarters. The Times called it “the remote pandemic version of a hot mic incident.”

The video soon began circulating and eventually reached the desk of ESPN executives. While Nichols was not immediately punished, there were consequences. For one thing, Taylor told ESPN she did not want to interact with Nichols during coverage.

Nichols continued to host “The Jump” and worked as a sideline reporter during the 2021 NBA season. But when the Times released its report on the “hot mic incident” in July, Nichols was pulled from her reporting duties for the NBA Finals.

Now, over a year after Nichols’ original comments, ESPN has canceled “The Jump” and removed her from all NBA coverage.

There are so many components of this saga to unpack, but they all center around one major theme: The woke mob will eventually come to eat its own.

First of all, Nichols herself is hardly a conservative. Her response to her comments being leaked and the resulting criticism amounts to an admission of guilt.

“My own intentions in that conversation, and the opinion of those in charge at ESPN, are not the sum of what matters here — if Maria felt the conversation was upsetting, then it was, and I was the cause of that for her,” she told the Times.

That is an incredibly leftist statement. The idea that you should have to apologize for voicing reasonable frustrations just because it hurt someone’s feelings is not one that a conservative would ever embrace.

By canceling Nichols, ESPN is not ridding itself of some far-right neo-Nazi. It is ousting a seasoned reporter who is pretty woke in her own right — just not quite woke enough for ESPN.

ESPN’s handling of the situation provides a clear example of why it continues to lose relevance in the sports media landscape. Instead of trying to improve based on legitimate criticism, it chose to run with the narrative of Nichols as the racist villain.

ESPN doesn’t want to address the possibility that Nichols’ concerns were merited. It would rather buy into identity politics and kick anyone who questions it to the curb.

In the end, the joke is really on ESPN. Taylor turned down an extension this year and moved to NBC, and Nichols, of course, has been given the boot. Two of the most successful women at the company are now gone.

In an attempt to save its coveted woke status, ESPN has likely sunk itself even deeper in a ratings hole. The network let wokeness win out, and now both it and Nichols are worse off because of it.

Rejected! Woke Mob Can’t Cancel Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Leprechaun

Unlike the timid owners of the Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Chiefs, Notre Dame University isn’t buckling under pressure from the sports nickname gestapo. Neither is former Fighting Irish football coach Lou Holtz. After a survey by Quality Logo disparaged Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish leprechaun, the university and former coach basically told nickname Nazi’s to pound sand.

ESPN’s woke Max Kellerman, co-host on First Take, had also denounced the leprechaun. In 2018, he yelled that “Many Irish are not offended” by the mascot of the Fighting Irish, “but many are! Should that also change? The answer is … the answer is yes! Unequivocally yes! Pernicious negative stereotypes of marginalized people that offend even some among them should be changed. It’s not that hard.”

Perhaps the leprechaun worked his magic. Wednesday night, the Notre Dame mascot disappeared from the web page listing the worst college mascots. However, the leprechaun got a lot of lovin’ from some heavy hitters before that happened. And the nickname gestapo got a bad rap, too.

The university released a statement to the Indianapolis Star defending its mascot, and resisted any pressure to change it.:

It is worth noting … that there is no comparison between Notre Dame’s nickname and mascot and the Indian and warrior names (and) mascots used by other institutions such as the NFL team formerly known as the Redskins. None of these institutions were founded or named by Native Americans who sought to highlight their heritage by using names and symbols associated with their people.

Holtz, who won the national championship at Notre Dame in 1988, went on Fox & Friends to exhort people to fight back against cancel culture.:

The students at Notre Dame, when I coached there for 11 years, they’re proud to be a part of the Fighting Irish. The Irish have a great tradition, etc. But why does everybody have to say what you want to do? There’s a lot of things I don’t like that I tolerate. That’s part of life. That’s part of the United States. It’s part of the freedom of speech.

But people, they get offended and try to bully and try to shut ya up. But I think it’s time for the silent majority to stand up and say no more. This is what we believe, and this is what is going to go on. This is our country, and this is the way it was founded.

Holtz went beyond the nickname gestapo, too.:

People don’t like the flag. They don’t like the Pledge of Allegiance. Everything in this world they don’t like – the Redskins. Good Lord knows. Let’s have the ability to stand up. I used to think the First Amendment said I have the freedom of speech to say what I want and say what I feel. But let’s not be intimidated any longer. It’s time the silent majority stood up.

David Hookstead, the sports and entertainment editor for The Daily Caller, also blasted cancel culture. We live “in incredibly stupid times and decisions are rarely driven by common sense,” he wrote. “They’re almost always driven by whoever shouts the loudest and shames the most.”

Last month, the Cleveland Indians baseball club announced it would cave in to nickname gestapo pressure and changed their name to Guardians. Then the Chiefs did likewise and sent their mascot, a real live horse named Warpaint, out to pasture.

For once, the woke cancellation mob is getting a well-earned rejection.

North Carolina Federal Judge Cites ‘Disinformation’ to Ratify State Censorship – RedState

We are currently experiencing a mass expansion of government censorship.

Which government attempts to justify by saying they’re only censoring “disinformation,” “misinformation” or “fake news.”

Dog Memes, Fake News, Political Ads and Big Tech: Who Watches the Watchers?:

“(W)e have millions of highly influential American citizens looking to ban information – in the name of banning bad information.

“But you can not ban the adjective (bad) – without banning the noun (information)….

“In a free country – everyone speaks.  And everyone decides for themselves what is real or fake.”

Everyone speaking freely is exactly what the First Amendment guarantees…:

“Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech….”

Nowhere does the Constitution offer the government a First Amendment censorship exemption for “disinformation,” “misinformation” or “fake news.”

So this is blatantly obvious….

‘Fake News’ Is a Really Dangerous Excuse for Censorship

Oh: And government — which is CONSTANTLY getting things wrong and outright lying to us — is the world’s worst arbiter of what is “disinformation,” “misinformation” or “fake news.”

President Biden’s Lies and Their Consequences in the Fall of Afghanistan

FBI Admits Jan 6 Wasn’t An Insurrection – Zero Evidence Found That Riot Was An ‘Organized Insurrection’ Or That Trump Can Be Blamed

Trump-Russia Collusion Is Fake News

Which brings us to a recent, really ridiculous court ruling.  From U.S. District Judge Thomas Schroeder — a Republican president George W. Bush appointee.  So we are yet again reminded that awful government is, as always, bipartisan.

Judge Schroeder’s ridiculous ruling ratifies North Carolina’s state government censorship law.  And it does it in the name of stamping out “disinformation.”

And here’s the really ironic part:  North Carolina’s censorious law is predicated upon actual disinformation.  Isn’t this fun?

N.C. Federal Court Upholds State’s Anti-‘Patent Troll’ Law

Except a “patent troll” is a fake thing.  Made up by people who want to steal patents.

‘Patent Trolls’ – Don’t Actually Exist

While We’re Lost in The ‘Patent Troll’ Freakout, ‘Reformers’ Will Eviscerate Private Property Rights

When The Media Report ‘Patent Trolls’ – Think ‘People Protecting Their Private Property’:

“(W)hat exactly is a ‘patent troll?’  He or she is someone who owns a patent – which is private property. And is trying to protect their private property from unauthorized use by someone who doesn’t want to pay to use it.

“Is someone who owns a house and calls the police to roust squatters a ‘property troll?’ Is someone who reports their car stolen an ‘automobile troll?’”

Unfortunately, the North Carolina state government apparatus fell for the “patent troll” lie.  Or further spread it — to aid patent-stealing, political-contributing-cronies.

By passing a law that purports to deal with this fake creature.  They may as well have passed a law outlawing vampires:

“A North Carolina federal court…(ruled) the North Carolina Abusive Patent Assertions Act (APAA) doesn’t violate the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution….”

Of COURSE the law violates the First Amendment.  It is government censoring the speech of patent holders.

This law — and the ruling upholding it — eviscerates the system by which patent holders can protect their patents.  It smothers in the crib any attempt by a patent holder to stop people from stealing it.

How it’s supposed to work is: Someone uses someone else’s patent without permission.  The patent holder’s first action of recourse is to notify the thieving someone in writing that they are stealing.

Except this ridiculous law ruling gives the thieving someone a preemptive out.  Just screech “patent troll,” and the patent holder’s attempt to protect his property can be brought to a screeching halt.

Judge Schroeder then goes fishing for his out: The First Amendment censorship exemption for “disinformation,” “misinformation” or “fake news”:

“Schroeder said the statute doesn’t violate the First Amendment because it only regulates fraudulent false statements, which are unprotected….”

Except we’ve already pointed out — that exemption doesn’t exist.

ALL statements are protected.  Statements that are totally true, totally false — and everywhere in between.

Oh: And like speech rights, patent property rights are explicitly Constitutionally protected.

So you can’t screech “disinformation” to undermine someone’s Constitutional rights.

Be they for speech or property.

Schroeder may be a lawyer and a judge.  But he’s really awful at all of it.

Cancel Culture Mob Attacks Carrie Underwood For Liking Anti-Mask Tweet

The Taliban has seized Kabul, ruthless vaccine mandates are stripping citizens of freedom across the U.S., critical race “theorists” want to corrupt your children’s minds, and Joe Biden is still on vacation. But to Twitter users, none of those issues are more important than country music star Carrie Underwood‘s recent Twitter “likes.”

The singer reportedly “liked” an August 12 tweet by Daily Wire columnist and podcaster Matt Walsh, in which he “spoke out against the cruel and indefensible mask mandate for children.” The tweet is still among Underwood’s current “liked” content on Twitter.

After a Twitter user screenshotted Underwood’s Twitter interactions, users immediately pounced, calling Underwood an “anti-vaxxer,” untrustworthy, trashy, and a slew of other comments.

Underwood, a mother of two, doesn’t usually broadcast her political opinions. One of her most popular songs “Jesus, take the wheel” is about her Christian faith, and although the star has remained relatively hush over her own personal political affiliations, she strictly adheres to that Christian faith, leading many to speculate about conservative leanings.

Many took on the Twitter trolls, rushing to Underwood’s defense.

“Carrie Underwood liked a video about kids not being forced to wear masks – a position totally supported by data – and she’s being called an anti-vaxxer. In case you thought your “nuanced” takes would save you from the leftist cancel mob… they won’t,” tweeted conservative commentator Allie Beth Stuckey.

Walsh even mocked the insanity, sarcastically noting that “[Underwood] should know better than to indirectly endorse the opinions of an extremist and scoundrel such as myself. Her lack of judgment is appalling. I demand that she renounce me and apologize.”

The singer liked one tweet — and now, she’s another celebrity to fall victim to the cancel-culture leftist mob who attack anyone with views opposing their own.

Maybe next time, she’ll think before she tweets. But hopefully, Underwood will stand strong against the absurd mob activity.
