Afghan evacuees at U.S. military base charged with domestic violence, sexual abuse of minors

One Afghan evacuee being held at an American military base in Wisconsin tried to coerce two young boys into having sex with him, while another tried to strangle his wife, federal officials said in charging documents unsealed this week.

The men, Bahrullah Noori and Mohammad Haroon Imaad, were arraigned Thursday and entered pleas of “not guilty.”

The charges appear to be the first lodged against recent Afghanistan evacuees who have reached the U.S.

In this case, both men were among 13,000 evacuees at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, one of a number of military bases holding tens of thousands of Afghans airlifted out of Kabul last month in the chaotic scramble to meet President Biden’s withdrawal deadline.

“When you bring tens of thousands of Afghans into American communities now and ask questions later, as President Biden has done, bad things are bound to happen,” said Rep. Tom Tiffany, a Wisconsin Republican who has been tracking developments at Fort McCoy.

“This is why I raised concerns about the White House’s loose vetting policies early on. Unfortunately I don’t think this will be the last time we see something like this,” he said.

Mr. Noori, 20, repeatedly tried to get two boys, cousins aged 12 and 14, to have sex, and cajoled them into touching him, according to court documents.

The father of one of the boys reported the incident after hearing his nephew crying in the bathroom and found Mr. Noori twisting the boy’s hand to try to force him. The boy, through a translator, later told investigators Mr. Noori told him to “give me your ass.”

The other boy told investigators he too was accosted in the bathroom and that Mr. Noori also regularly tried to get the boy into his cot.

In one bathroom incident, Mr. Noori told the boy to “give me your ass or I’ll beat you.” When the boy pulled away Mr. Noori bit him on the cheek, the court documents allege. Agents aid they did observe a slight discoloration to the boy’s cheek.

Both boys said Mr. Noori had been “doing this kind of thing for the last couple of weeks,” and they’d been told not to say anything or he would beat them, an FBI agent said in an affidavit.

Mr. Noori was indicted on multiple charges of attempted sex with a juvenile between 12 and 15, including one by force.

In separate charges, Mr. Imaad, 32, is accused of assaulting his wife by trying to strangle or suffocate her.

The woman told investigators at the base that Mr. Imaad raped her, and he told her he would send her back to Afghanistan “where the Taliban could deal with her,” the FBI agent wrote.

Through an interpreter, she told investigators Mr. Imaad tried to choke her while at the base and said he “beat me many times in Afghanistan to the point I lost vision in both eyes.”

The wife, identified only by initials B.I., also said Mr. Imaad struck their children.

At his arraignment Thursday Mr. Imaad asked for an “extremely expedited” schedule, the judge said. Jury selection and trial are slated to start Nov. 1.

Mr. Noori‘s case is particularly striking, given worries over the practice of adult men in Afghanistan making juvenile boys their sexual companions — known as “bacha bazi,” which translates roughly to “boy play.”

Some analysts have warned that the practice will likely increase under the Taliban in Afghanistan, and wondered whether it would reach the U.S. through the evacuees.

More broadly, security experts have complained about the massive numbers involved in the airlift, warning that there’s little chance to do significant vetting.

Biden administration officials have acknowledged that forced child brides were brought to the U.S. by men in the airlift.

The Washington Times has also reported on a convicted rapist and a convicted aggravated robber who made it through overseas vetting and reached the U.S. Both of them were flagged by a Customs and Border Protection officer at Washington Dulles International Airport.

The airlift was sold to the public as a chance to evacuate Afghans who assisted the two-decade U.S. war effort, though Biden officials now say they brought out people who don’t qualify under that category, but who still needed evacuation.

The administration has been unable to detail the number of people who did assist the U.S. effort, versus those who were airlifted out for other reasons.

Dozens of Catholics ask bishop to revoke vaccination recommendation for minors

PETITION UPDATE (9/3/21) –

Following the US Supreme Court’s decision to allow Texas’ Heartbeat Law to go into effect, Joe Biden made the announcement that he would initiate a “whole-of-government” response against the new pro-life statute which could ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

This is yet another, outright confirmation of Biden’s openly pro-abortion policies, policies which have the main objective of ensuring that women will continue to be able to kill their own children without impediment.

This anti-life, anti-Catholic stance needs to be urgently addressed and condemned by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

For the good of the Church, for the good of pre-born babies, for the good of the faithful, and, indeed, for his own good, Joe Biden needs to be publicly rebuked by the bishops and excommunicated until such time as he repents from his pro-abortion policies.

Please continue to SIGN and SHARE this petition, which asks the bishops of the United States to act in unison to exclude Joe Biden from Holy Communion for his scandalous promotion of abortion – the murder of the innocent.

After signing, please take a moment to CONTACT the offices of the USCCB to politely, but firmly, encourage the Conference to take the necessary steps to exclude from Holy Communion public officials who continue to show blatant disregard for innocent human life and the Church’s teaching.

The USCCB’s Office phone number is: 202.541.3000

Thank you!

_____________________________________________________________________________

“No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” – Matthew 6:24

In the lead-up to their meeting in mid-June, we call on the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) to exclude Joe Biden and other “Catholic” politicians (like, Nancy Pelosi) from Holy Communion over their public, obstinate, and scandalous promotion of abortion.

Please SIGN and SHARE this petition which asks the USCCB to act to stop the abuse of the reception of the Holy Eucharist by politicians who promote the murder of innocent pre-born babies.

We know that making a decision to exclude public figures from Holy Communion is not easy. But, sometimes, this is the only way to make them understand the error of their ways, and to preserve the Church from serious scandal.

Indeed, Canon Law (Canon 915) declares that those who persist in manifest, grave sin should not be admitted to Holy Communion

Beyond that, at this point, public excommunication appears as the only suitable response for Biden’s obstinate, public and grave sin of promoting abortion.

In doing so, we do not hold ourselves up as judges over Joe Biden’s eternal soul, but we encourage the bishops to make known one of the consequences of public and obstinate support of abortion by our ‘Catholic’ politicians.

The fact is, in terms of the manifest, grave sin of abortion, Joe Biden is as bad as he said he would be before the election.

Therefore, it is cold comfort that the USCCB is only preparing to discuss this issue only now.

But even now, if the USCCB publicly excommunicate Biden for his pro-abortion stance (as well as other pro-abortion politicians), the Conference could reclaim some of the moral authority which they lost by their largely silent assent to Biden’s candidacy.

Please SIGN and SHARE this petition, now.

Since Joe Biden was sworn-in on the 20th of January, he has wasted no time in signing orders and bills which facilitate the destruction of unborn human life.

  • In one executive order, Biden rescinded the Mexico City Policy prohibiting the federal government from spending taxpayer monies on abortion and the promotion of abortion.
  • Biden also signed (instead of vetoing) the COVID relief bill, which, for the first time in 44 years, contained funding for abortions in America, using taxpayer dollars.
  • Biden said that he wouldn’t defend Hyde, and he hasn’t.

And, if he and the Democratic Party get their way, a lot more of the same regarding abortion is on the way.

Strong action must be taken lest anyone, especially young people, be confused by the scandal of a “Catholic” in Biden’s position aggressively promoting abortion, enabling the killing of innocent human beings.

American rank-and-file Catholics don’t want any more compromise and equivocation from the Bishops Conference on this “pre-eminent” life-and-death issue.

We want clear action, not twenty more years of dithering and “dialoguing.”

50 million babies have been lost to abortion in the U.S. since Roe!

So, we will NOT accept any more lives lost as a result of dithering and “dialoguing.” [**Please see “Notes” below about how it has been reported that some senior U.S. clerics are trying to prevent this discussion from even taking place.]

And, we will especially NOT accept one life lost to abortion by politicians who claim the Catholic Faith, but who promote grave evil. God forbid!

With all due respect to these bishops, they diminish the Holy Eucharist and their high office, as well as cause grave scandal to the faithful, by not imposing public canonical penalties on a man who is promoting mass murder of the unborn against the constant teaching of the Church.

The bishops are now at a crossroads and must choose either God or mammon.

We call on them to choose God and choose Life!

And we also continue to encourage those brave, true and good bishops who have done well to warn Amercian Catholics about the perils to the unborn and the Faith resulting from Biden’s promotion of abortion!

SIGN and SHARE this petition, which asks the bishops of the United States to act in unison to exclude Joe Biden from Holy Communion for his scandalous promotion of abortion – the murder of the innocent.

Notes about USCCB’s June Meeting:

For nearly twenty years, the US bishops have been dithering about whether or not to excommunicate pro-abortion politicians by formally withholding Holy Communion from them.

Their indecision on this gravely scandalous matter is a scandal in itself, but one of the biggest obstacles has been internal opposition from senior U.S. bishops.

And, although the faces have changed in the last 20 years, their morally-and-intellectually-challenged arguments against excommunication have not changed.

Liberal bishops of the USCCB say that excommunicating Biden (for example) would divide the Church, divide the bishops, and would politicize the reception of Holy Communion.

Indeed, in the name of “unity,” it is reported that some senior U.S. clerics, including Cardinal Blase Cupich (Chicago), Cardinal Wilton Gregory (Washington, DC) and Cardinal O’Malley (Boston), have been working overtime to prevent any substantial discussion of so-called “Eucharist coherence” (that is, what qualifies as worthy reception of Holy Communion).

It is also reported that at least 57 other American bishops allegedly joined these Cardinals in a recent letter to the Head of the Bishops Conference, Archbishop Gomez of Los Angeles, to try to pressure him to drop the planned discussion at the full meeting of bishops in June.

And now, even the Vatican is getting involved, with the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith suggesting that even more “dialogue” is needed.

These same clerics may mistakenly believe that any attempt to suppress the objective connection between a politician’s promotion of abortion and his unworthy reception of Holy Communion will fool anyone.

But, it will not.

Rank-and-file Catholics are not stupid and can smell compromise a mile away, and we’ve had enough.

With all due respect to the Cardinal, bishops, and the Vatican…those who fail to act diminish the Holy Eucharist and their high office, as well as cause grave scandal to the faithful, by “dialoguing” with a man who is promoting mass murder of the unborn against the constant teaching of the Church.

Please SIGN and SHARE this urgent petition urging the bishops Conference to take action at their June meeting to exclude pro-abortion Joe Biden and other abortion-promoting “Catholic” politicians from Holy Communion.

Judicial Watch: New HHS Documents Reveal Sexual and Physical Abuse of Unaccompanied Minors

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced today that it received 41 pages of documents from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) which list 33 separate incidences of alleged sexual abuse in a one month time period.

Judicial Watch forced the release of the documents through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed against Health and Human Services for:

All summaries from individual case files of reports of physical and/or sexual abuse or assault of Unaccompanied Alien Children under the care of HHS, its sub-agencies, and or VOLAGs [voluntary agency], contractors, grantees, and sub-grantees, to include all segregable, non-exempt information.

Records reflecting aggregated data of physical and/or sexual abuse and assault of UACs under the care of HHS, its sub-agencies, and or VOLAGs, contractors, grantees, and sub-grantees.

The records include a spreadsheet of data from the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement and lists 33 “sexual abuse allegations” involving “unaccompanied children” (UAC) for the time period of January 21, 2021, to February 26, 2021. These incidents seemed to be tied to “voluntary agencies” (VOLAGs), which are contractors for the federal government. Ten of the allegations of sexual abuse were made against staff and “non-staff” members. Twenty-one incidents of children sexually assaulting other children while in government contracted care facilities were reported.

No details were provided as to who the alleged attacker or victims were other than that they were UACs. Additionally, no incident reports were provided by HHS.

On February 22, 2021, at the BCFS (Baptist Children and Family Services) shelter in Baytown, Texas, a UAC reported that another UAC, a 17-year-old boy from Guatemala, had been punched with a closed fist in his ribcage by his roommate while the victim was lying down. The victim of the alleged attack did not want to discuss it with shelter officials. The report notes “Minor was moved to another room to ensure other minor’s safety.” The follow up questions in the report: “Was the incident investigated?”; was it “Reported to CPS?”; and was it “Reported to Local Law Enforcement?” were all answered “No.”

“These documents show that not only are there shocking reports of sexual abuse occurring in shelters for unaccompanied children, but that there is violence amongst the UACs themselves,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It is no surprise that Biden administration’s enabling of human trafficking has resulted in violence and the abuse of children.”

On April 7, 2021, Fox News reported: “Gov. Greg Abbott demanded that the White House close a San Antonio facility housing migrant children Wednesday following allegations that children there were being sexually assaulted.” Additionally, “The governor said that separate complaints were sent to the Department of Health and Human Services and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Wednesday, alleging four different kinds of child abuse.”

It was recently confirmed that the Biden administration just this year alone “lost contact with thousands” of unaccompanied illegal immigrant children who had been released from federal custody.

Big Tech Platforms Are Addictive, Toxic for Teen Girls and Minors: Report

Several Big Tech companies reportedly know their social media sites are toxic for minors, and the sites may even perpetuate that toxicity.

The Wall Street Journal wrote that TikTok and Facebook-owned Instagram are creating a toxic environment for children and teens on their respective platforms. TikTok’s algorithms, through the platform’s “highly personalized” For You feed, “can quickly drive minors—among the biggest users of the app—into endless spools of content about sex and drugs.” TikTok does not differentiate suggested content based on age.

Similarly, The Journal reviewed Facebook research and documentation and said the social media giant “knows” Instagram is toxic for teen girls.

Lawmakers have already bashed Instagram for the alleged toxicity on social media. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) launched an investigative probe on Sept. 14 into Facebook, and House Republicans said Facebook has been deceptive. Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) tweeted, “Facebook is lying about how their product harms teens.” His spokesman urged the passing of Congressional antitrust bills against “dark and duplicitous monopolists.”

Instagram Head of Public Policy Karina Newton’s public response to The Journal attempted to put Facebook’s research “in context,” highlighting the “mixed” research on social media’s impact. “While the story focuses on a limited set of findings and casts them in a negative light, we stand by this research. It demonstrates our commitment to understanding complex and difficult issues young people may struggle with,” Newton said. “Our job is to make sure people feel good about the experience they have on Instagram, and achieving that is something we care a great deal about.” Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri has since tweeted: “We stand by this work and believe more companies should be doing the same.”

The Journal reported that it uncovered hundreds of TikTok videos with pornography, drugs, abuse and other “adult content.” The outlet said it shared 974 of these videos with TikTok. Some of the videos reportedly portrayed “caregivers” entering into relationships with individuals acting as children or “littles.”

Other videos or accounts presented to “teen” users advertised drug products or “paid pornography sites,” reported The Journal. A TikTok spokeswoman reportedly “declined to address the content of the individual videos” and said that, while some videos were removed or restricted, “the majority didn’t violate guidelines.” TikTok’s guidelines do contain prohibitions against “Content that depicts or promotes human exploitation” such as “sex trafficking” and “Content that depicts, promotes, normalizes, or glorifies self-harm.”

Facebook’s own research reportedly uncovered how toxic Instagram can be. “We make body image issues worse for one in three teen girls,” reads one 2019 research summary slide, according to The Journal. Another slide reportedly revealed “increases in the rate of anxiety and depression.” The Journal report indicated that Instagram may cause mental health problems and aggravate existing issues for teens of both sexes.

“In public, Facebook has consistently played down the app’s negative effects on teens, and hasn’t made its research public or available to academics or lawmakers who have asked for it,” The Journal asserted. The outlet also reportedly reviewed internal documentation on subjects such as human trafficking and teen mental health. The Journal concluded that Facebook is “acutely aware” its systems and products “routinely fail.” Facebook 2020 research purportedly showed that “[s]ocial comparison is worse on Instagram.”

‘We’re On A Mission’: Advocacy Groups Campaign Against Trans Surgeries For Minors

  • The push to “Save Women’s Sports” resulted in a slew of legislation banning biological males from women’s sports and conversations on the national stage about protecting women and girls.
  • Now, backed by a network of about 40 independent, state-based organizations called family policy councils, advocacy groups are assembling to battle the next culture war issue.
  • “Kids who are hurting and struggling need help, not harm,” Family Policy Alliance’s Meridian Baldacci told the Daily Caller News Foundation, “and that’s why we’re on a mission to help more leaders step up and protect children.”

The battle to “Save Women’s Sports” resulted in a slew of legislation banning biological males from girls’ sports, conversations on the national stage about gender, sex, individual dignity, and much more. Now the advocacy groups behind this push are assembling to battle the next burgeoning culture war issue — transgender sex change surgeries and procedures for minors.

Progressive activists, media, lawmakers, and even some medical professionals call such procedures “gender affirming medical care” and protest that denying an individual this “care” is cruel, regardless of age. Republican Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson vetoed the state’s SAFE Act in April, arguing that the legislation was a “vast government overreach” and that it shouldn’t jump into every ethical issue.

But advocacy groups like the Family Policy Alliance (FPA) insist these procedures irrevocably hurt children. And backed by a network of about 40 independent, state-based family policy councils, FPA aims to multiply the number of states across the nation that legally protect children from gender transition.

“Kids who are hurting and struggling need help, not harm,” FPA’s Meridian Baldacci told the Daily Caller News Foundation, “and that’s why we’re on a mission to help more leaders step up and protect children.”

Some political figures have downplayed the need for policy on hot button issues like transgender procedures or sports, like Democratic Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, who vetoed the state’s Fairness in Women’s Sports bill in June and called it “a solution in search of a problem that simply does not exist in Louisiana.”

But other governors, like Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, promise they are ready to tackle these issues head on.

“I’m very much opposed to chemical castration of minors, I honestly didn’t know this existed until a few years ago,” DeSantis told the DCNF in early June. “That would be something I would sign for sure.”

The Campaign To ‘Help Not Harm’

The FPA launched the ‘Help Not Harm‘ campaign Tuesday, the DCNF first learned, which aims to educate concerned citizens about gender dysphoria, gender transitions and “meaningful ways to help struggling children” and pushes Americans to call on lawmakers to “join the fight” to protect children. (RELATED: CNN Straight News Piece Says ‘There Is No Consensus Criteria For Assigning Sex At Birth’)

FPA’s state ally in Arkansas, Family Council, was instrumental in Arkansas’ battle to pass the SAFE Act: the state legislature ultimately defied the governor’s veto and passed the much disputed legislation that bans physicians from performing gender transition procedures on minors. The state’s actions made global news and pushed Hutchinson to address on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” whether he supports chemical castration for children.

WATCH:

A federal judge blocked the SAFE Act from going into effect in late July, but Baldacci told the DCNF that Arkansas’ legislation set a new standard for child safety laws that the rest of the nation can look to for guidance and inspiration.

“We should never grow weary of protecting children. I’m proud of Arkansas legislators who were not afraid to stand up to the political mob and put kids first,” Republican Arkansas state Rep. Robin Lundstrum, the lead house sponsor of the SAFE Act, told the DCNF. “We must work together to pass legislation like the SAFE Act across the country so that children in every state are protected from chemical and surgical castration.”

The FPA provided the DCNF with a long list of advocacy groups or “family policy councils” that have endorsed the campaign, including Alaska Family Council, the Center for Arizona Policy, the California Family Council, the Hawaii Family Forum, the Massachusetts Family Institute, the Family Heritage Alliance in South Dakota, and the Family Policy Institute of Washington.

The organization’s allies are working with FPA across the country to push public policy in line with the organization’s goals and to fight back against progressive activists, policies and legal action. (RELATED: Here’s How Media Framed An Arkansas Bill Banning Trans Surgeries, Procedures For Minors)

FPA has also sought the endorsement of prominent conservative intellectuals who can take the fight to protect children into D.C. conversations, opinion pieces, think tanks, the Twitter-sphere and beyond. This includes experts at the Ethics and Pubic Policy Center (EPPC) like Ryan T. Anderson, Mary Rice Hassan and Roger Severino, as well as conservative culture leaders like the American Principles Project’s Terry Schilling.

It is profoundly unethical to interfere in the normal physical development of a child as part of a process ‘affirming’ a ‘gender identity’ at odds with bodily sex,” Anderson, the author of “When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment,” told the DCNF. “Children deserve help, not harm, in embracing reality, including the reality of their body. Prudent legislation is needed to protect children from the many harms of experimental ‘gender’ therapies.”

Schilling, the leader of an organization focused on promoting and protecting family values, pointed out that there was a time not so long ago when “all medical practitioners agreed that biological reality should trump ideology and that healthcare should follow science and data, not politics.”

“Unfortunately, many in the medical community today have fallen captive to the mistaken idea, pushed by left-wing activists, that a person’s sex is determined by their mind, not their body, and they have now begun to push this idea onto children, prescribing them highly experimental drugs with dangerous, long-term side effects and putting them on an irreversible, life-altering path which they are too young to fully comprehend,” Schilling said. “This is a frightening trend which must be opposed.”

Saving Women’s Sports

The family policy councils’ prospects of success may seem daunting against challengers like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), but FPA and its cohort of family policy councils have already fought and won the battle over women’s sports in several states.

“The story of Save Girls’ Sports is really a story about the hard work of pro-family advocates and grassroots around the country,” Baldacci told the DCNF. “The family policy movement has known for some time that there was a need to protect girls’ and women’s sports. Over time, states began to introduce legislation to protect girls’ sports – many under the leadership of state family policy councils.”

FPA previously teamed up with family policy councils and lawmakers across the nation to spread awareness and prevent biological males from participating in women’s sports. The groups encouraged citizens to reach out to lawmakers and to the NCAA, to donate to advocacy organizations to support their efforts to protect girls, to speak out on social media so that friends of similar beliefs would realize that they were not alone.

Messaging focused on girls, and protecting girls’ ability to succeed: “College sports are for college athletes,” FPA’s website said. “Professional sports for pro athletes. And female sports should be for female athletes.” (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: DeSantis Says He Would Ban Trans Surgeries For Minors)

It worked.

At least 31 states have taken action to ban biological males from participating in female sports: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wisconsin all introduced legislation that would biological males in girls sports.

Backed by FPA, Idaho was the first state in the nation to pass the “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act” in March 2020. The legislation was quickly challenged in April 2020 by the ACLU in a federal court, prompting former President Donald Trump’s Justice Department to file a brief defending the law.

FPA responded to the ACLU’s lawsuit with a campaign to “Save Girls Sports” — and continued messaging about protecting young girls such as “The ACLU once championed girls’ sports – now they want to turn boys into girls’ sports champions” and “Don’t let the ACLU destroy girls’ sports.”

“Our ‘Save Girls’ Sports’ week last June garnered social media participation from many national and state groups, state lawmakers, and two members of Congress (Rep. Vicky Hartzler and Sen. Kelly Loeffler),” Baldacci told the DCNF. “We also rallied 46 state and national organizations in a letter to encourage the Trump Department of Education to stand strong on Title IX and protect girls’ sports.”

“In the months that followed, thousands signed in agreement with our online petition to Save Girls’ Sports, and many contacted lawmakers at both the national and state level as opportunities arose,” she added. “Meanwhile, other states continued to advance Save Girls’ Sports legislation, and many other national allies spoke out in their own space.”

FPA’s victories are due in a large part to allies on the ground who work tirelessly to change lawmakers minds, sit through hours-long hearings, and fight for specification in legislation, Baldacci said. “All this momentum and the national conversation led to girls’ sports being at the center of the Equality Act debate,” she said. “Even mainstream media (AP) admits that the Save Girls’ Sports effort has stalled the Equality Act in the Senate. That national impact was made possible by groups across the nation rallying around the effort to protect female athletes.”

What Is This “Gender Affirming Medical Care”?

Lawmakers have proposed at least 121 bills related to transgender issues as of July 15, according to the LGBTQ activism organization GLAAD. In addition to Arkansas, Tennessee also banned ethically fraught hormone treatment for children who had not yet reached puberty.

Most media framing of the bills takes an activist approach rather than reporting the legislation straightforwardly. Outlets use vague phrases like “gender affirming medical care” or “trans affirming medical care” instead of saying sex change surgery or gender transition surgery.

“They keep rebranding the gender change process,” former transgender woman Walt Heyer, who now runs the website Sex Change Regret, previously told the DCNF. “First it was ‘sex change,’ then it was ‘gender reassignment.’ They want to make this not look like the child abuse it really is and now want to sell you and everyone else that it’s ‘gender affirming medical care.’”

Medical professionals who perform transgender procedures on children usually begin with puberty blockers such as the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which temporarily suppresses puberty for the child, according to the Mayo Clinic.

For biological males, the puberty blockers will decrease face and body hair growth, prevent the voice from deepening, and limit genitalia growth, according to Mayo Clinic. And for biological females, the puberty blockers will limit or stop menstruation and the development of the breasts.

The Endocrine Society recommends that clinicians begin puberty blockers after kids first show signs of puberty around age 11.

A U.K. judge ruled in December 2020 that it is “highly unlikely that a child aged 13 or under would be competent to give consent to the administration of puberty blockers,” adding that “it is doubtful that a child aged 14 or 15 could understand and weigh the long-term risks and consequences of the administration of puberty blockers.”

Transgender advocates “maintain that “the suppression of puberty using GnRHa is a reversible phase of treatment” and that puberty blockers can be considered ‘buying time’ to allow for an open exploration of the SR [sex reassignment] wish.”

But other experts have called puberty blockers a “momentous step in the dark,” wrote Dr. Jonathan Wells, a senior fellow at the Center for Science and Culture, citing studies showing that almost all children who go on puberty blockers proceed to take cross-sex hormones, which is the next step in the sex-change process.

Cross-sex hormones will cause the individual to develop more masculine or feminine secondary sex characteristics, according to Mayo Clinic.

The Endocrine Society recommends that children “who fulfill eligibility for gender reassignment” begin cross-sex hormone therapy at age 16, but notes that there may be “compelling reasons” to begin cross sex hormone treatment earlier, even though there are limited studies on cross-sex hormone treatment administered to children younger than 13 or 14.

Wells wrote that “since almost all children who start on them go on to take cross-sex hormones, it seems that the ‘completely reversible’ claim is exaggerated.”

It would more truthful, Wells said, to tell parents and children: “We can give you medicine that will block changes in puberty that you might find disturbing. According to the evidence, if you don’t take the medicine there is at least a three out of four chance that you will grow up happy with the body you have. On the other hand, once you start taking the medicine there is a 98 percent chance that you will go on to take cross-sex hormones. Those hormones will probably make you sterile, and you may have to take them for the rest of your life.”

The Endocrine Society suggests that young people wait until 18 to obtain sex-change surgery, though in some countries the age minimum is 16.

“These surgeries are equivalent to female genital mutilation,” Dr. Michelle Cretella, executive director of the American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds), told the DCNF. “A single transgender surgery on a child is one too many.”

“Sadly, over the last 6 years, transgender ideology has infiltrated the field of pediatrics so successfully that so called ‘gender experts’ can openly boast of sending 13 year old girls for double mastectomies and 16 or 17 year old girls for hysterectomies,” she continued. “Similarly, minor boys may be sent for castration and/or penectomies at age 17 (look no further than Jazz Jennings). Most Americans recognize that these surgeries are mutilating and sterilizing children. Consequently, policy makers from over a dozen states have approached ACPeds physicians over the last several years to review and/or testify in support of their proposed policies.”

ACPeds was the first to sound the alarm 10 years ago about the “growing trend to treat gender dysphoria in children as an inborn trait rather than a treatable psychological condition,” Cretella told the DCNF.

“In the intervening years, I have continued to represent ACPeds at the forefront defending the reality that no child is born in the wrong body,” she continued. “Biological sex is a medically significant unchangeable binary trait that is determined by genes at fertilization. This fact is why males who ‘identify as female’ remain male even if they take estrogen and undergo cosmetic surgeries to impersonate females; at the genetic level, they remain male.”

China Limits Minors to Three Hours of Video Games a Week

China issued strict measures on Monday to crack down on youth video game addiction, limiting minors to just three hours of video games a week.

China’s Communist Party, which in recent years has singled out video games as a social ill and “opium for the mind,” prescribed narrow hours in which young gamers will be allowed to play. Under the new regulations, minors will be forbidden from playing games at all during the school week and will be permitted just one hour a day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m, to play video games.

According to the Wall Street Journal, China could enforce the measures through technologies such as real-name registration of gamers or facial recognition software, tools that Chinese video game companies have used before to limit users’ playing time in response to pressure from the regime.

The regulations are a dramatic escalation of the CCP’s efforts to cut down on video gaming by minors. In 2019, China prohibited minors from playing video games past 10 p.m. and limited time spent on games to 90 minutes each weekday.

Chinese president Xi Jinping pointed to video game addiction as a social concern at a political advisory conference in March.

State media outlet Xinhua News Agency described the latest measures as an effort to “effectively protect the physical and mental health of minors.”

Texas determines sex-change surgery for minors is child abuse

The state of Texas this week declared that performing transgender sex reassignment surgeries on minors constitutes child abuse.

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott made the announcement on Thursday after receiving a conclusive response on the matter from Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Commissioner Jaime Masters.

Abbott had reportedly directed the DFPS last week to issue a determination on whether “genital mutilation of a child for purposes of gender transitioning through reassignment surgery constitutes child abuse.” In a response letter, Masters determined that it is.

“Genital mutilation of a child through reassignment surgery is child abuse,” Masters wrote in her letter to the governor. “This surgical procedure physically alters a child’s genitalia for non-medical purposes potentially inflicting irreversible harm to children’s bodies.”

In a press release, Abbott announced that Masters’ determination as well as subsequent enforcement of her conclusions are “effective immediately.”

In her letter, Masters spelled out the legal responsibilities that professionals who witness suspected abuse have under Texas law.

Pursuant to Texas Family Code, Section 261.101, a professional who has “cause to believe” a child has been or may be abused must report that belief to DFPS within 48-hours after the professional first suspects the abuse. A professional may not delegate to or rely on another person to make the report. Professionals include teachers, nurses, doctors, day-care employees and others who are either licensed by the state or work in a facility licensed or operated by the state and who have direct contact with children through their job.

Failure to make a timely report about suspected abuse is considered a Class A misdemeanor and could result in jail time.

The commissioner added that “allegations involving genital mutilation of a child through reassignment surgery will be promptly and thoroughly investigated and any appropriate actions will be taken.”

There are, of course, certain situations in which surgery on a child’s genitalia may be necessary, Masters noted in the letter.

“It may be warranted for the following conditions including, but not limited to, a child whose body parts have been affected by illness or trauma; who is born with a medically verifiable genetic disorder of sex development, such as the presence of both ovarian and testicular tissue; or who does not have the normal sex chromosome structure for male or female as determined through genetic testing,” she wrote.

Whether children should be able to undergo sex reassignment surgery or other kinds of gender transition procedures has become a hot-button political issue of late, as views continue to be put forward on gender identity.

While on the campaign trail last year, President Joe Biden signaled support for children as young as 8 years old being able to change their genders.

Then, in a nod to the progressive movement, he nominated Dr. Rachel Levine, who identifies as a transgender woman, to be the United States assistant secretary for health.

During Levine’s confirmation hearing, the health official refused to rule out allowing a child to override parental consent in pursuit of hormone therapy or sex-change surgery.

Biden admin ramps up removals as border apprehensions spike with record number of unaccompanied minors – HotAir

The Biden administration has refused to call the situation at the border a crisis, referring to it instead as a “challenge.” So how is the administration doing in dealing with that challenge? Well, the official numbers for July still haven’t been released yet but based on unofficial numbers that were reported earlier this month by the Associated Press, the answer is not very well. In case you missed those, CBS News repeated them in a story published yesterday:

U.S. agents along the border with Mexico likely made 210,000 migrant apprehensions in July, a monthly total not seen since 2000, according to preliminary figures. About 80,000 parents and children traveling as families and 19,000 unaccompanied minors, an all-time high, were among those taken into U.S. border custody last month.

Here’s what the official numbers looked like through June. As you can see, the scale on the Y-axis of this graph only goes up to 200,000 and we were nearly there in June:

If the reported numbers are correct then the Border Patrol is going to have to change the scale in order to accommodate them. That’s how well things are going.

The administration is clearly trying to get ahead of the bad news. Last week, Reuters reported the administration was making a stealth effort to “break the momentum” of irregular migration by flying migrants deep into Mexico. Here’s the Washington Post’s Nick Miroff on the unannounced change.

The Biden administration has started flying Central American border-crossers deep into southern Mexico in a new attempt to prevent repeat crossings and break the momentum of the largest migration surge in at least two decades, according to U.S. and Mexican officials.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will send Central American adults as well as children traveling as part of family groups on flights to Villahermosa in the state of Tabasco, and potentially other cities in southern Mexico, according to officials from both countries with knowledge of the program who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the program.

U.S. authorities will rely on the emergency public health authority known as Title 42 to “expel” the migrants rather than have formal deportation proceedings. By flying the migrants to southern Mexico, U.S. and Mexican authorities believe they can reduce overcrowding in border detention facilities and shelters and relocate vulnerable groups away from dangerous Mexican border cities…

The Biden administration made no public announcement in the United States about the flights, which were first reported by Reuters. U.S. officials held a Spanish-language briefing Friday for reporters in Central America on the matter but did not respond to questions from The Washington Post about the frequency of the flights, the number of migrants they will carry and other operational details.

Once in Mexico, the migrants are offered a free bus ride back to Central America. Maybe that will give the border patrol enough breathing room to deal with the overcrowded facilities. Just today Townhall’s Julio Rosas reported on a new video clip which was apparently shot by a CBP employee who is disgusted by the conditions. We all know how this sort of image was reported on during the Trump administration:

It’s hard to overstate what a complete disaster the Biden response to this crisis has been. First off, the administration is directly responsible for creating it despite warnings this would happen. Then when the numbers started to spike in March, Biden latched on to some very dubious claims present by immigration experts affiliated with the Center for American Progress. Biden himself repeated claims that the migration was just seasonal, suggesting it would drop off as the weather got warmer. Obviously that hasn’t happened.

Next the Biden admin. tried to generate some positive press by emptying the overcrowded CBP detention facilities and sending kids to emergency HHS shelters set up in convention centers and at Fort Bliss. Word got out that several of those facilities had serious problems. Whistleblowers revealed that the Fort Bliss facility for thousands of teen migrants was being run by a local ServePro affiliate, a company that provides clean up after natural disasters. ServePro had zero experience dealing with children and never should have even been considered to run such a facility.

Meanwhile, under pressure from activists and the ACLU, the Biden admin. announced it was ready to end Title 42 removals of migrants on July 31. But at the last minute, someone in the administration apparently realized this would be a disaster and reversed course. Even so, the administration is still releasing migrants with COVID to poorly run facilities.

So it’s good news that the Biden administration is finally trying to do something to prevent repeated crossings at the border and to discourage additional migration but it’s too little, too late. If the numbers for July are correct then we’ve already seen more than 1.3 million apprehensions this fiscal year with two months yet to go. Fiscal Year 2021 will likely wind up somewhere between the third highest number of border apprehensions in history and the 6th highest. Whatever the final tally, the absurd idea that this is not a crisis and that the Biden administration is managing it well really needs to stop.
