Hollywood Celebrities Renew Push for Gun Control Following FedEx Shooting: It’s a ‘National Disgrace’

Hollywood celebrities are renewing their push for gun control following a shooting at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis, which reportedly left eight people dead late Thursday. The gunmen committed suicide at the scene, according to reports.

Show business elites including Julianne Moore, Bette Midler, Alyssa Milano, and Stephen King are urging lawmakers to take action. It’s a “national disgrace,” actor Billy Baldwin tweeted.

Celebrities have ramped up their drive for more gun control following shootings in Atlanta and Boulder, Colorado, promoting measures including background checks and a ban on assault weapons. Many of the stars cheered last week when President Joe Biden announced a new set of executive orders that includes new restrictions on “ghost guns” and a push for red flag laws.

On Friday, the stars resumed banging their drums for gun control, seizing on the Indianapolis shooting to push their political agenda.

Julianne Moore demanded elected officials take action to ensure there are fewer guns on the street. She also pushed for police reform and more mental health services. “If our representatives don’t do all of the above vote them out. We don’t have to live like this,” she wrote.

Bette Midler tweeted “there is something seriously wrong” with the country, saying it is being “terrorized by when with guns.” She added the country “does absolutely nothing to resist.”

Stephen King tweeted “something has to be done about guns in this country,” adding that “safeguards” are needed to prevent “crazy” and “angry” people from obtaining and using firearms.

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill expressed his frustration with what he sees as an endless cycle of violence and political inaction.

Rosanna Arquette demanded “gun control now.”

Alyssa Milano urged the Senate to pass gun legislation, using the anniversary of the Virginia Tech shooting to demand reforms. She also urged her fans not to become “numb” by the Indianapolis shooting.

Billy Baldwin also demanded gun control, calling the FedEx shooting a “national disgrace.”

‘Gutfeld!’ on Fox News Beats Jimmy Fallon, Bill Maher, ‘The Daily Show’ in Debut Week

Viewers who have grown tired of late-night comedy’s incessant left-wing bias made their feelings known last week by giving Fox News Channel’s Gutfeld! a strong debut, handily beating NBC’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon while nipping at the heels of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Gutfeld!, which stars long-time The Five co-host Greg Gutfeld, drew an average of 1.57 million viewers in its first five episodes last week. The show easily beat the Tonight Show, which averaged 1.38 million viewers and HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, with 1.08 million.

The show also outpaced Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and TBS’ Conan.

Watch below:

Gutfeld! came close to matching ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s 1.58 million viewers. CBS’ Late Night with Stephen Colbert topped the ratings chart last week with an average of 1.93 million viewers.

Fox News said Gutfeld! has beat every CNN program in total viewers while also topping every MSNBC program in the 25-54 year old demographic with the exception of The Rachel Maddow Show.

Gutfeld! is Fox News’ first major foray into late-night comedy. The show features Greg Gutfeld and a panel of guests dissecting the day’s news in a humorous way.  The hour-long weeknight program debuted April 5, and has featured guest appearances by Fox & Friends co-host Pete Hegseth as well as frequent Fox News faces Katherine Timpf and Tyrus.

Late night comedians including Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel have frequently devoted their shows to bashing former President Donald Trump and his allies, while boosting President Biden and other left-wing leaders.

Kimmel recently interviewed Hunter Biden but failed to ask any questions about the laptop scandal or how he secured lucrative foreign deals while his father Joe Biden was vice president of the United States.

Will Smith Pulls Slave Drama ‘Emancipation’ Out of Georgia in Protest of Voter Integrity Law

The Will Smith movie Emancipation, which is backed by Apple Studios, won’t film in Georgia as originally planned in protest of the state’s recently passed voter integrity law, making it the first major Hollywood production to boycott Georgia over the new legislation.

Will Smith and director Antoine Fuqua confirmed the decision in a joint statement to Deadline, which first broke the story Monday. They said they could not “in good conscience provide economic support” to the state.

“At this moment in time, the Nation is coming to terms with its history and is attempting to eliminate vestiges of institutional racism to achieve true racial justice. We cannot in good conscience provide economic support to a government that enacts regressive voting laws that are designed to restrict voter access,” they said.

“The new Georgia voting laws are reminiscent of voting impediments that were passed at the end of Reconstruction to prevent many Americans from voting. Regrettably, we feel compelled to move our film production work from Georgia to another state.”

Based on a true story, Emancipation tells the story of runaway slave (Smith) who travels north and joins the Union Army. Deadline reported the movie is now likely to shoot in Louisiana, where the actual historical events took place.

The move from Georgia means the production won’t be able to take advantage of the state’s generous financial incentives, which are the main reason so many Hollywood shoots have moved to the Peach State in the past decade. In 2019, the state issued a reported $870 million in tax credits to film and TV shoots.

The decision will also deprive hundreds of blue collar crew workers in Georgia of work on a major studio film.

Hollywood celebrities are condemning the Georgia voter integrity law as racist and a form of “voter suppression,” claiming that voter identification requirements will keep away minority voters. ViacomCBS, which owns CBS and Paramount Pictures, has also publicly criticized the law.

While some showbiz elites have announced their decision to boycott Georgia, including filmmaker James Mangold and Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, Emancipation is the first major title to publicly renounce the state.

China, #MeToo, Guns, Climate Change, and More

When they’re not making movies, TV shows, or albums, left-wing Hollywood elites can be found lecturing average Americans on how to live their lives. Gun control is imperative, lockdowns are necessary, and burning fossil fuels is wrong. Except when they do it, of course.

Hollywood hypocrisy comes in many flavors, and the varieties keep growing as more celebrities attempt to expand their social media reach (and their box-office bankability) through progressive activism. Last movie was a flop? Your Netflix sitcom got canceled after one season? Career redemption can be yours if you worship at the altar of woke politics.

It turns out Hollywood elites are deeply flawed spokespeople who frequently fail to lead by example. From #MeToo to climate change to China, the entertainment industry still clings to the old adage: do as we say, not as we do.

No controversy has exposed liberal Hollywood’s hypocrisy more than the #MeToo scandals that continue to rock the entertainment industry. Harvey Weinstein was one of Hollywood’s biggest Democratic fundraisers, backing the presidential campaigns of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. He is now sitting in a New York jail on a 23-year sentence for rape and sexual assault.

Hollywood has repeatedly labeled former President Donald Trump as a fascist. Yet the industry has eagerly jumped into bed with China, with studios bending over backward to please the dictators in Beijing. The Walt Disney Co. is the biggest offender, going so far as to shoot the live-action Mulan in an area known for concentration camps for Uyghur minorities, a place where authorities reportedly engage in the systematic rape of women. As China’s own box office overtakes the United States, Hollywood studios are gradually realizing that they need China more than China needs them.

Global warming

No cause is as dear to Hollywood’s heart as blaming human energy consumption for climate change. And yet they are some of the biggest offenders, with stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Harrison Ford flying private jets and sailing on private yachts while they publicly support green initiatives.

Hollywood loves Georgia’s financial incentives for movie and TV production, soaking up more than $800 million in annual giveaways funded by taxpayers. But showbiz elites hate Georgia’s new voter integrity law, with celebrities mobilizing to denounce it as an act of “voter suppression.” To show their appreciation for all the state has done for them, some Hollywood liberals are now refusing to work in Georgia in protest of the law.

Gun control

Celebrities love to promote gun control legislation, with stars cheering on President Joe Biden’s recent executive actions. Yet many stars employ private armed security while studio movies and TV shows thrive on fake gun violence.

Stars eagerly lined up to condemn Donald Trump as a racist and “literally Hitler.” Yet many of them looked the other way whenever one of their own committed racist acts, including dressing up in blackface. Jimmy Kimmel still has his job at ABC despite donning blackface and using the n-word, while many conservatives have been cancelled for far less.

Lockdown fever

Hollywood celebrities championed economic lockdowns during the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic, urging people to stay at home as much as possible. While the stars holed up in palatial splendor, thousands of blue-collar crew members lost their jobs. California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) eventually exempted the entertainment industry from his lockdown mandate in November. Studios reportedly hired expensive lobbying firms to bend his ear.

Open borders

Many celebrities also condemned President Trump’s immigration policy, calling it racist and xenophobic. Yet many live in gated neighborhoods with no access for the general public.

Health Care

Hollywood was among the biggest cheerleaders for Obamacare. Ironically, SAG-AFTRA is facing a class action lawsuit from its own members, who are accusing the industry’s biggest union of revoking health care for elderly actors while in the middle of a pandemic. The same union also held disciplinary hearings on Donald Trump, who was a guild member for years before recently resigning.

Comedian Charlyne Yi Calls Out James Franco, Seth Rogen over Misconduct on ‘The Disaster Artist’

Actress-comedian Charlyne Yi has called out James Franco and Seth Rogen over their behavior during the making of the 2017 movie The Disaster Artist, claiming the production attempted to “bribe” her after she tried to quit the movie in protest over Franco’s alleged acts of sexual misconduct.

Charlyne Yi claimed Seth Rogen knew about the attempted bribe. “Enablers are just as toxic and are abusers too,” she said.

Yi, who has a small supporting role in the movie, made the accusations in an Instagram post Friday in which she lashed out at “white men,” the “patriarchy,” and “white supremacy.”

“When I tried to break [a] legal contract & quit disaster artist because James Franco is a sexual predator, they tried to bribe me with a bigger acting role,” she wrote. “I cried and told them that that was the exact opposite of what I wanted, that I didn’t feel safe working with a fucking sexual predator.”

She said the film production tried to minimize the accusations against Franco by saying it was “so last [year]” and that he had “changed.”

The Disaster Artist was a critical darling and modest box office success for distributor A24. It earned an Oscar nomination for adapted screenplay.

During the movie’s Oscar campaign, several women came forward accusing Franco of behaving inappropriately in his acting classes. Franco denied the accusations. Two former students sued Franco two years later, but the suit was reportedly settled out of court.

Yi also called out Seth Rogen, who worked on the movie as a producer and an actor. “He definitely knows about the bribe and why I quit,” she wrote.

“Disgusted by white men choosing power over protecting children and women from predators,” she added. “White men perform infantalism when it comes to sacrificing their white supremacy & patriarchy [because] they actually don’t give a fuck.”

Republican Politicians Are ‘Evil, Soulless, Bigots’

Cher is the latest Hollywood celebrity to explode over Georgia’s new voter integrity law, claiming inaccurately that the law takes away voting rights of black Americans. She also lashed out at Republican lawmakers, calling them “evil” and “bigots.”

In an emotional tweet on Sunday, the actress and pop star accused Republicans of stripping the voting rights of black people and depriving them of “racial and economic equity.”

Cher wrote that Republican politicians are “infected” with a “deadly pandemic of their own making.” They are “evil, soulless, bigots” and “don’t care.”

On Thursday, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) signed into law Senate Bill 202, which passed along party lines by the state’s General Assembly. The legislation is intended to curb fraud by implementing voter identification requirements and limiting ballot drop boxes throughout the state.

Hollywood celebrities including Edward Norton, Susan Sarandon, Billy Eichner, and Rosanna Arquette have erupted in anger, calling the law racist and condemning Georgia Republicans as white supremacists. The left is also threatening to pressure sports teams and corporations like Coca-Cola into boycotting the state.

Cher was one of Hollywood’s biggest supporters of Joe Biden during the 2020 presidential election. The star performed at virtual fundraisers and even hit the campaign trail in Nevada for the candidate.

In an interview last year, she explained her support for Biden. “I’m actually registered as an independent. It means I don’t agree with everybody, but in the final analysis, you have to vote for the one side you hate the least,” she said.

Last month, the Oscar-winning actress claimed she cried after President Biden departed Washington, DC, on Air Force One for a trip to Delaware.

84 Percent of Americans Oppose Disney Filming ‘Mulan’ in Chinese Region With Uyghur Concentration Camps

Disney’s decision to film Mulan in a region of China with Uyghur concentration camps continues to be a public relations disaster for Hollywood’s biggest studio. A new poll about the Walt Disney Co. has found that the vast majority of Americans oppose the studio’s choice of locations for the live-action movie.

The poll of 1,098 adults concluded that 84 percent Americans are against Disney’s decision to shoot portions of Mulan in the Xinjiang region in northwestern China, where authorities run concentration camps for Muslim Uyghurs. Just 16 percent approved of the studio’s choice.

Watch below:

Disney came under fire last year after it released Mulan on its Disney+ streaming service. The movie’s end credits contained a special thanks to the Turpan Municipal Bureau of Public Security, which currently oversees the detainment of Uyghur Muslims and other minorities.

As Breitbart News reported, the studio has chosen to remain silent about recent reports of rape and other human rights abuses carried out by Chinese authorities against minority women in the region.

The overall poll about Disney, which was conducted online by Survey Monkey with the firm Public Opinion Strategies, found that the studio is tarnishing its image by taking woke public positions, including shutting down popular theme park rides because of complaints of racism, and firing actress Gina Carano from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.

Fully 60 percent of Americans said they have a less favorable impression of the company, and 58 percent said they are less likely to watch Disney programming, once they learned about Disney’s recent action, according to the poll. Those most likely to shun Disney tend to be seniors (69 percent), Republicans (74 percent), conservatives (71 percent), and Trump voters (78 percent).

The poll found that nearly two-thirds of Americans believe that companies like Disney have taken political correctness too far, while nearly half of Americans feel that Hollywood executives and the entertainment industry are biased against conservatives and Republicans.

‘Psycho,’ ‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,’ Among the Iconic Films Turner Classic Movies Deems Problematic

Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and Rope are among the films that Turner Classic Movies has deemed “troubling and problematic,” joining the ranks of Gone with the Wind in a new series called “Reframed: Classic Films in the Rearview Mirror,” which seeks to scrutinize old movies through the lens of today’s identity politics.

The new TCM series, which launched on Thursday, also seeks to pick apart such innocuous movies as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? and My Fair Lady.

“Many of the beloved classics that we enjoy on TCM have stood the test of time in several ways, nevertheless when viewed by contemporary standards, certain aspects of these films can be troubling and problematic,” the cable network said.

Watch below:

The series will explore how these movies “can be reframed so that future generations will keep their legacy alive.”

Watch below:

TCM hosts will put Psycho under the microscope for its alleged portrayal of gender identity and the way it supposedly equates transgenderism with mental illness and violence. The Hitchcock classic, which was first released in 1960, stars Anthony Perkins as a motel manager whose split personality involves dressing up as his deceased mother to carry out a murder.

Rope (1948), inspired by the Leopold and Loeb homicides, tells the story of two roommates who dare to hide the body of their victim in their New York apartment just as they are about to host a dinner party. TCM is expected to explore the  movie’s take on the protagonists’ gay relationship.

TCM will dissect Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961) for actor Mickey Rooney’s performance as a Japanese man, and will scrutinize the musical My Fair Lady (1964) for any hints of misogyny in Professor Henry Higgins’ (Rex Harrison) tutelage of Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn).

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? (1967) will be examined for the now-problematic Sidney Poitier. The Oscar-winning Poitier was a huge Hollywood star at the time, but today he is no longer so beloved because his fanbase was mostly white audiences, according to TCM.

“That opens up all kinds of complications for black viewers who felt that he wasn’t a representative of the race as a whole,” TCM host Jacqueline Stewart told the Associated Press.

The Stanley Kramer movie was one of the first major Hollywood releases to portray an interracial romance in a positive way and was considered progressive for its time.

John Ford’s The Searchers (1956), starring John Wayne, will also receive a racial analysis. The seminal Western film follows the Wayne character’s attempt to rescue his niece (Natalie Wood), who was kidnapped by Comanches. The movie is considered one of the greatest films of all time and has influenced many other movies, including Taxi Driver and American Sniper.

“The Wayne character is overtly racist, and many argue that the label also applies to the film itself, as the characterization of Indigenous people is both stereotypical and underdeveloped,” said TCM.

Gone with the Wind will also feature in the new series. The 1939 classic was already blacklisted by TCM’s corporate sibling HBO Max, which temporarily pulled the movie following accusations that the story glorifies the antebellum South.

Other movies in the TCM series include The Jazz Singer, Stagecoach, Tarzan, the Ape Man, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Sinbad, the Sailor, and The Children’s Hour.
