The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired defenseman David Savard from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday as part of a three-team trade that also includes the Detroit Red Wings.

The Lightning also secured the services of defenseman Brian Lashoff from the Red Wings.

Tampa Bay sent its first-round pick of the 2021 NHL Draft and third-round selection in 2022 to the Blue Jackets, as well as its fourth-round pick in 2021 to the Red Wings.

Savard, 30, has recorded six points (one goal, five assists) in 40 games this season. The 6-foot-2, 233-pound Savard has 166 points (41 goals, 125 assists) during his 10 seasons with the Blue Jackets, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Draft.

Savard is in the final season of a five-year, $21.25 million deal he signed in September 2015. Columbus will retain 50 percent of Savard’s contract as part of Saturday’s deal.

“David Savard is a consummate professional and his contributions to our organization over the past 10 years have been significant,” Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said. “He has been an incredibly selfless player on the ice, a great teammate in the dressing room and a great representative of the Blue Jackets off the ice.”

Savard will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.

Lashoff, 30, has recorded 15 points (two goals, 13 assists) in 136 career games with the Red Wings. His last game in the NHL was on Jan. 14, 2020.

Lashoff will remain with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.
