A person is dead after reportedly jumping off of the Lake Thom-A-Lex bridge on Yokley Road on Thursday afternoon, according to law enforcement.

At approximately, 5:30 p.m. deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 700 Block of Yokely Road, adjacent to Lake-Thom-A-Lex Park after a 911 caller reported a person “jumped from the bridge and re-surfaced face down in the water on the opposite side of the bridge”.

Additional rescue agencies responded to the scene and were able to recover the body of the subject at Lake-Thom-A-Lex. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

Davidson County Sheriff’s representatives state this is an active investigation and further information will follow when available.
